Wyre Forest-based eco-distiller, Wildjac, will be encouraging people to support the plight of the bee by gifting a bee house with every purchase[1] of its award-winning Honey Spiced Rum this World Bee Day, Thursday, 20th May.

Each bee house – worth £15 - will provide a breeding place from spring through to summer for cavity-nesting solitary bees such as Mason bees, Leafcutter bees and Yellow-faced bees.  Currently 35 UK bee species are under threat of extinction and Wildjac hopes its Honey Spiced Rum bee house pairing will help to raise awareness and encourage people to make their gardens as bee friendly as possible.

Wildjac's rum is made from sustainably sourced sugar cane from Caribbean and central American plantations, distilled using traditional methods at Foursquare Distillery in Barbados (renowned for its environmentally-friendly practices) and aged solely in ex-Bourbon oak barrels which creates an incredibly authentic, premium liquid.

The rum is then blended with local Worcestershire honey - created by the wonderous bee population - and English coriander resulting in a smooth, honey spice aroma which leads to a ginger, orange and vanilla finish.  Notes of spicy coriander, nutmeg and a hint of oak combine to underpin this full bodied, beautifully fresh tasting unique rum.

Winner of the coveted Rum and Cachaça Masters 2021 Gold Award and London Spirits Competition 2021 Silver Award, Wildjac Honey Spiced Rum is perfect sipped over ice, served with a favourite mixer or as a basis for some delicious cocktails.

Bee houses gifted via Wildjac.co.uk with every 70cl bottle (£29) and eco-friendly 70cl JacPac, (£27).

Aster Sadler, Co-Founder, Wildjac Distillery said: “Wildjac Distillery is committed to creating a truly sustainable business and part of this is ensuring that we operate in a mindful manner when it comes to nature and the local environment.

“Our Honey Spiced Rum is one of our core range of sustainable spirits and its special flavour profile couldn't be achieved without the beautifully fresh Worcestershire honey that our bee friends create.

“This World Bee Day we'd like to acknowledge the role that bees play both in our product's creation and in maintaining a healthy environment and economy by gifting bee houses with every full-size bottle/JacPac of Honey Spiced Rum sold, a small gesture to help this wonderful creature.”

Wildjac spirits are distilled on site and hand-bottled within 100% post-consumer recycled glass bottles featuring recycled labels, FSC certified wood stoppers and biodegradable closures.  Each bottle also comes with a book of wildflower Seedsticks to encourage people to affect change by supporting their local habitat.

Wildjac is part of the 1% For The Planet programme which sees 1% of all sales revenue given back to charities and organisations including the Wyre Forest Community Land Trust, Trees for Cities and the Worcestershire Wildlife Trust.
