The Westin Sydney is delighted to launch two new inspiring afternoon tea concepts. Influenced by Sydney's rich history, the two distinctly different afternoon tea menus incorporate imagery associated with the heritage clock tower and the Sydney area. The experience is best enjoyed bathed in sunlight beneath our breathtaking atrium in The Lobby Bar, Lounge and Room.
The history of afternoon tea is suggested to have originated during the early nineteenth century with Anna, 7th Duchess of Bedford, feeling peckish in the afternoon while waiting for dinner which was served late in the evening.
The Duchess requested tea and a light snack to be delivered to her boudoir every afternoon but once her secret was discovered this practice was offered by many influential hostesses to entertain their special guests.
The Westin Sydney is proud to offer Westin's Heritage and Mad Hatter Afternoon Teas; a long-established tradition that has been reengineered to complement our contemporary setting.
Westin's Heritage Afternoon tea is a remodelled version of the classical offering. Traditional cucumber sandwiches and sponge cakes are replaced with flavoursome tomato, spinach and corn breads wrapped or layered with smoked salmon, smoked ham and a delicate assortment of fillings. Delight in a caramel mousse, crème brulee and profiteroles with dark chocolate cream filling to complete the experience.
Westin's Mad Hatter Afternoon tea is a whimsical journey. Inspired by Alice's Adventures in Wonderland explore the unique creations of our talented Chefs. Try the Mad Hatter's hat made of rich chocolate mud cake or the White Rabbit's pocket watch, a blueberry macaroon with blueberry cream filling. Sweet dishes are paired with a refreshing salad and enticing savoury options to balance the palate.
Both menus have been created incorporating SuperFoodsRx to enhance the nutritional benefits of each ingredient.
Prices start from $45 per person for unlimited tea and coffee, $55 with an accompanying SuperFoodsRx cocktail or for the ultimate in decadence, complement your afternoon tea experience with a flute of R de Ruinart champagne for $65.
Afternoon tea is served daily from 12:00pm - 6:00pm in The Bar, Lounge and Room. Reservations are essential 24hours in advance and can be booked by calling +61 2 8223 1197, emailing westin.sydney@westin.com or visiting http://deals.westin.com/Westin-Sydney-1183/Dining_Offers.htm
