The Grange Resident Chef Cheong Liew, recognised by his peers at the 2006 HM Awards for Hotel and Accommodation Excellence.

Leading properties in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific were recognised on Friday 8 September at the 2006 HM Awards for Hotel and Accommodation Excellence. 35 Awards were presented on the night from over 600 nominations including people, properties and chains. Industry nominated, the voting and judging process involves a panel of 50 industry professionals, and travel media.

Cheong Liew was honoured for his contribution to the industry as �Best Executive Chef�, presented by Le Cordon Bleu.

HM � Hotel and Accommodation Management Magazine James Wilkinson, said �the HM Awards are really about the oft-forgotten fact that the industry is so much more than just bricks, mortar, king size beds and goose-down pillows. It�s about people that make hotels what they are.

The Hilton group�s Australasian flagship property Hilton Sydney, reopened after a $350 million renovation in 2005 collected the award for �Best new Hotel� and �Hi-Tech hotel�.
