Tesco Takes On Tusker And Raises Money For Africa

Tusker

Tusker East Africas number one lager and Tesco, the UKs largest supermarket chain, have joined forces to raise money for TUSK Trust, through sales of Tusker lager. In the run up to Christmas, Tusker will donate 5p for every bottle sold in Tesco with the retailer matching this figure. It is hoped this initiative will raise a significant amount of money for the charity.

TUSK Trust is a dynamic UK based wildlife charity with over 17 years experience of conserving wildlife, promoting education and supporting community development programmes throughout Africa. The charity boasts a large number of celebrity supporters such as Rory Bremner, Ronnie Wood and Griff Rhys Jones; HRH Prince William has also granted his Royal Patronage. TUSK provides practical, logistical and financial support to a portfolio of over thirty different field projects spread across 17 African countries.

Tusker is an award winning genuine imported lager which has won Gold on numerous occasions at the highly respected Monde Selection international beer awards. Research shows that UK drinkers are looking for beers like Tusker that have genuine provenance, and through Tesco, these consumers can make a contribution to charity whilst enjoying East Africas favourite lager. Tusker is brewed using the highest quality equatorial malted barley grown at the base of Mt. Kenya and in the Kenyan Rift Valley. It is a crisp and clean tasting lager making it a great thirst quencher as well as the ideal accompaniment to food.

Peter Karsten, Distributor of Tusker in the UK states: We are thrilled that Tesco will be stocking Tusker and it just goes to show the quality of this African original lager. We are also hoping that we can generate significant sales and raise as much money as possible for the Tusk Trust to help the invaluable work it carries out in Africa.

Tuskers heritage dates back to 1922. It is loved by East Africans and has become part of the national fabric. Tusker lager is named in memory of the brewerys founder George Hurst, who was killed by an elephant in 1923. The iconic elephant logo and distinctive black and gold colouring are sure to make this brand stand out from the crowd. Tusker comes in 500ml bottles and has RRP of 1.49 in Tesco.
