Launched only a month ago, Hendersons Deliciously Spicy Yorkshire Crisps have flown off the shelves, becoming one of the companys top selling flavours. Its unprecedented for a more adventurous flavour to beat the traditional ones, and may be down to the many followers of Hendersons Relish in, and now out of, Sheffield.
Before the launch of the popular Hendersons flavoured crisps, Yorkshire folk have been known to shake Hendersons Relish into a bag of plain crisps, but now they can save themselves the time, effort and mess!
People are even posting the crisps to their Yorkshire friends who have moved abroad, and other customers have been known to travel for miles to stock up on the popular Hendersons crisps. But with more and more outlets signing up to sell the new flavour, shoppers wont have to travel so far in the future.
Yorkshire Crisps Managing Director, Tony Bishop adds: The success of the flavour is owed to the great taste of Hendersons Relish, combined with our quality potatoes and commitment to only use completely natural flavours. The response from retailers has been overwhelming, and we are expecting some orders from larger nationwide companies in the next few months.
The first outlet to stock the flavour was the University of Sheffields University Arms bar, which sold out of the flavour within days of the product being stocked. Stefan Lowrie, Commercial Bars Manager at the University comments: We sold out of the Hendersons flavour impressively quickly: the new flavour is as popular as Yorkshire Crisps Chardonnay Wine Vinegar and Cheddar & Caramelised Onion Chutney flavours. And I should add that all three are the most popular crisps we sell.
After the students tasted the Hendersons flavour, they became extremely popular, and many students wanted to find out more about the brands and the heritage of the city.
Suma Wholefoods recently decided to stock the Yorkshire Crisps range because of their proximity to the company, as reducing food miles is important to them and their customers. Buyer Claire Robertshaw says: Yorkshire Crisps had been mentioned to us by several of our customers, so we wanted to stock them due to popular demand! Sales are already promising and we will be placing our next order this week.
The first cash and carry to stock the brand is Parfetts branches in Sheffield, Halifax and Somercotes. Trading Controller Matthew Oxley says: Hendersons flavoured Yorkshire Crisps are the best crisps in the world, as they only use potatoes grown in Yorkshire and are made from the best relish in the world. Were delighted to stock them both in our stores and expect them to be a winner with our customers.
Yorkshire Crisps potato farmer Simon Hinchliffe has been providing the company with potatoes for over three years, and presents the Hendersons flavour to his farm visitors. Simon comments: We jumped at the chance to supply an end-user directly, as we have felt disconnected from the food chain. In the past we have dealt with large, faceless corporations, but with Yorkshire Crisps we know what is produced from our crop, and where they are sold. We deliver on tractors straight from our field to the nearby Yorkshire Crisps factory. Were delighted to be associated with Yorkshire Crisps, its a great product and I am proud that they are made out of our potatoes.

Hendersons Relish was first manufactured in Sheffield over 100 years ago, by Mr Henry Henderson.
In 1940, Mr Charles Hinksman formed the present company of Hendersons (Sheffield) Ltd. Dr Kenneth Freeman, the nephew of the late Charles Hinksman, became the Managing Director and Chairman in 1991 and has overseen many important changes in the companys profile.
Hendersons is supported by many famous local brands and celebrities, including Richard Hawley, Pete McKee, Hallam FC and Sheffield FC.
Hendersons can rarely be found outside of the Sheffield area. It can be bought from local supermarket chains, as well as local retailers including Chatsworth Farm Shop and The Bakewell Farmers Market.
