Divine Chocolate Limited

The Easter range from Divine Chocolate is bouncing into spring with a redesign that's fresh as a daisy and introducing five tempting new treats.  As always the farmer-owned chocolate company has the perfect chocolate treat for everyone including luxury eggs, a range of smaller eggs, chocolate boxes and the popular miniature egg collection.

The perfect choice for chocolate lovers, the two Divine Luxury Eggs are available in 70% Dark Chocolate which this year comes with Divine's Dark Chocolate & Raspberry bar, and Milk Chocolate with clutch of Mini Praline Eggs. This year we've teamed up with  Canopy & Stars to offer the chance to win a fabulous weekend's stay at Old Art Studio in Devon – look for details on the sides of the Luxury Egg packs (RRP £10, see stockists at bottom of release).

New to the range this year are the Milk & Dark Eggs complete with Divine Caramel Bars. The 70g hollow eggs come in milk or dark chocolate and are accompanied by a milk 40g caramel bar or our brand new dark chocolate caramel bar (RRP £5, stockists at bottom of release).

Divine's smaller hollow eggs (55g) come in rich dark, smooth milk and creamy white chocolate and are made from the "best of the best" cocoa from  Kuapa Kokoo the co-operative that owns Divine (RRP £3.00, see stockists at bottom of release).

A must for Easter egg hunts or perfect for sharing with friends, the popular bags of miniature eggs include solid 70% Dark and Milk Chocolate Eggs, Milk Chocolate Praline Eggs and the colourful  Speckled Eggs (RRP £4.25, stockists at bottom of release).

The beautiful new packaging introduces bright pinks, yellows and blues and is adorned with spring flowers and butterflies all made up from Adinkra symbols- the west African symbols which feature on all Divine products.

All Divine's Easter eggs are free from artificial flavourings, colourings and preservatives and are suitable for vegetarians. Reducing the environmental impact of our packaging is important to Divine: our Easter eggs do not use plastic packaging and we have always kept cardboard use and waste to a minimum. Editor's notes

About Divine Chocolate

  • Divine chocolate is made with the finest quality Fairtrade cocoa beans from Kuapa Kokoo, a co-operative of smallholder farmers in Ghana. The cocoa is grown in the shade of the tropical rainforest, and slowly fermented and dried in the sun by the farmers, who take great pride in the chocolate company they co-own.
  • Divine Chocolate Ltd is the only Fairtrade chocolate company that is also co-owned by cocoa farmers. Kuapa Kokoo, a co-operative of 80,000 cocoa farmers in Ghana, benefit not only from the Fairtrade premium on the sale of their beans, but also receive a 45% share of Divine's distributable profits giving the farmers more economic stability, as well as the increased influence in the cocoa industry company-ownership brings
  • AllDivine products carry the Fairtrade Mark. This is an independent guarantee certified by the Fairtrade Foundation that the ingredients are sourced under internationally agreed fair trade terms and conditions. These include a guaranteed, secure minimum price, an extra socialpremium payment for the farmers to invest in their own community programmes, long term trading contracts, decent health and safety conditions – all aimed at empowering farmers to make their own improvements to living standards and prospects for the future
  • The UK chocolate market alone is worth approximately £3.98 billion a year (Mintel, 2012): if Fairtrade products can capture even a small proportion of that market, producers in developing countries gain real benefits.
  • Divine Chocolate has won a number of prestigious awards, most recently Divine's 38% Milk Chocolate with Toffee & Sea Salt was voted the “UK's Favourite Fairtrade Product” in a public poll by the Fairtrade Foundation .  Others include Good Housekeeping's Favourite Fairtrade Product 2008; Best FoodBrand in the SHE magazine Ethical Awards 2007; and Best Buy in Ethical Consumer magazine 2009.  Divine Chocolate Ltd was awarded Best Social Enterprise 2007 at the Enterprising Solutions awards run by the Office of the Third Sector and The Observer Best EthicalBusiness 2008.  Divines Dark Chocolate After Dinner Ginger Thins and 70% Dark Chocolate with Chilli and Orange were both awarded one star by the Guild of Fine Food at the Great Taste Awards 2013. Divine has been voted a CoolBrand 2013-14.
