Shoppers at Morrisons stores have been told that they enjoy the best supermarket customer service in the UK after the chain was awarded the prestigious Grocer Magazine, Gold Award for Customer Service.
Mark Gunter, Store Operations Director, said: "Winning the Grocer Gold Award for Customer Service is a fantastic achievement and a great compliment to everyone in our stores, We work extremely hard to provide the best service to our customers and we are delighted to secure this award for the 2nd year running."
The Grocer 33 is a shopping basket survey conducted throughout the countrys major supermarkets in eight regions of the UK. The prize is awarded weekly after a mystery shopper visits a chosen store from each of the major supermarket chains with a set shopping list, who then reports back with details of availability, price and customer service received.
Morrisons was given the customer Service award for the year up to June 3rd after winning the coveted weekly Top Store award on 12 occasions. The award highlights the best managers in the business for achieving cleanliness and tidiness of the store; aisles that were free from shelf stackers and packing trolleys; well merchandised with products easy to find; efficient and helpful staff and sufficient checkouts for the volume of customers.
Sian Harrington, Deputy Editor of the Grocer Magazine said: Customer Service is one of the most keenly fought awards within the Grocer 33 survey and the standard this year has been incredibly high. The last year has been one of change for Morrisons and its a great achievement to see that they continue to put their customers first, with excellent in-store service.
