Linda Lewis Kitchens Launches Exciting 'Principessa Pizza' Contest

Linda Lewis Kitchens

Forward-thinking catering equipment supplier, Linda Lewis Kitchens, is combining its passion for all things British and Italian, by launching a competition that asks pizza chefs to channel their culinary inspiration into the creation of a right royal affair – a 'Principessa Pizza'.

The northwest-based catering equipment specialist has chosen Italy's national day (Festa della Repubblica), on June 2, to launch a search for a pizza that celebrates the arrival of the latest member of the British Royal Family, Princess Charlotte.

This union of two cultures underlines Linda Lewis Kitchen's place in the UK catering market as the exclusive supplier of the Cuppone brand of Italian electric pizza ovens and other leading Italian brands such as Universo SRL, Arris, Friulco and Elframo.

It also reinforces Cuppone's position - at the heart of the Italian pizza sector and the sponsor of the internationally famous World Pizza Championships in Parma.

Any caterer serving pizzas, from professional pizzaioli to school chefs, can enter the contest and use their creative juices to devise their ideal 'Principessa Pizza'.  If they produce the winning formula, they will scoop a special trophy and Cuppone's baby oven – the LLKTZ4201 – suitable for both home and commercial use and worth over £700.

The triumphant Principessa Pizza will not only tickle the taste buds, but also be a feast for the eyes, thanks to its colours and presentation.  A principessa of any age should yearn to devour this mouth-watering creation, which should also be the crowning glory of the pizza menu, when served at the table.  It should have an appeal that courts all diners and be a proud chef's new baby, which they can't wait to show off.

To enter, chefs must submit details of the ingredients used in their Principessa Pizza, referencing Princess Charlotte, the Royal Family, or British life, in some way, and explaining why they chose their suggested ingredients.  They should include a photo of their cooked pizza and add the chef's and eatery's names.  They must include their address, best contact telephone number, and email address.  All should be emailed to linda@linda-lewis.co.uk with 'Principessa Pizza' in the subject line, by the closing date of August 31, 2015.

Linda Lewis Kitchens' managing director, Linda Lewis, says: “This contest is inspired by the history of pizza and puts a British twist on it. The 'Margherita' was devised as the world's first commercial pizza in 1889, to celebrate the arrival of Italy's King Umberto and Queen Margherita in Naples.  This explains the red, white and green ingredients used, which patriotically replicated the Italian flag.

“We are calling on chefs to create something just as suitable, which will mark and celebrate the arrival of a new British princess. There is a blank pizza base to work with, so we hope chefs will get cracking and decide what to place on their culinary canvas.”
