Australia's oldest importer of premium Italian Food & Wine has appointed Brisbane wine distributor Cork & Co to represent the company's extensive Italian wine range in Queensland.
Enoteca Sileno, which was founded in Melbourne in 1953, has a comprehensive portfolio of over 400 premium Italian wines and one of the largest cellars of aged Italian wine in the country. The new agreement means that these wines will be more readily available to Queensland wine merchants, restaurants, and cafés.
Cork & Co has been established by Chris Fullerton who is well-known in Brisbane wine circles through his earlier association with the Craggy Range label.
Enoteca Sileno Director, John Portelli, says a dedicated wine distributor located in Brisbane will provide Queensland clients with better service and a faster turnaround from order to delivery.
“The Brisbane heat can destroy wine in minutes, so it's crucial for us to work with a distributor who has climate controlled warehousing and who understands how to handle these fine wines.”
Mr Portelli says there are many indigenous Italian varieties and styles, especially from Sicily, Sardinia and the warmer southern regions that are perfectly suited to the Queensland dining style.
“Chris has an impressive understanding of Italian varieties, so I'm confident that, not only will he do a great job representing our wines, but he understands how to make sure customers will enjoy them in optimal condition.”
In addition to the Enoteca Sileno portfolio, Cork & Co will also be Queensland distributor for the Australian wine producers Unico Zelo, Hillcrest Vineyard, Tscharke and Scorpo.
