Porridge fans can now get their oats in a unique microwaveable sachet containing no added salt, sugar, colours or preservatives from Whites called Only Oats. Although porridge is one of the nations favourite breakfasts and recognised as a healthy way to start the day, other ready to eat porridge is full of not so healthy ingredients including salt and sugar.
Sales of ready to eat sachets* are driving the consumer demand for porridge no doubt fuelled by the instant convenience of the product. However, what many porridge fans and in particular parents may not realise, is that the porridge sachets are loaded with unnecessary additives. So Northern Irelands favourite and oldest oat brand is making the journey across the Irish Sea to meet the growing demand for a convenient, additive free porridge.
Whites Only Oats, is a special blend of wafer thin & traditional jumbo porridge oats providing more taste and more texture, keeping porridge lovers feeling fuller for longer. A 25g bowl of Only Oats made with semi-skimmed milk contains soluble fibre which will keep hunger pangs at bay and prevent mid-morning snacking.
Whites Only Oats is available in selected Waitrose, co-ops and all good independent stores, nationwide and priced from 1.49 for a box of 10 x 25g microwaveable sachets.
Editors Notes: Health benefits: Oats are a good natural source of vitamins and minerals including calcium, potassium, zinc and B-vitamins and complex carbohydrates, which boost concentration levels throughout the day and help to lower cholesterol, reducing the risk of heart disease. Porridge oats are a wholegrain cereal which means that they contain the entire edible part of the grain including the germ, endosperm and bran. When eaten as part of a healthy balanced diet, wholegrain foods are associated with a reduced risk of coronary heart disease and can also help to reduce the risk of several types of chronic illnesses such as heart disease, stroke, certain types of cancer and type 2 diabetes. In 2002 the Joint Health Claims Initiative in the UK acknowledged the importance of wholegrains by approving the following claim: People with a healthy heart tend to eat more wholegrain foods as part of a healthy lifestyle.
