Its now easier than ever to sample the delights of delicious food and drink produced in each region thanks to the newly updated Food from Britain website: www.regionalfoodanddrink.co.uk.
The new Find My Nearest feature enables users to search for quality regional produce within a specified distance from their home via a postcode entry. This facility means its quicker to source good, regional food that has not travelled thousands of miles. Plus, it gives the added advantage of knowing that the local economy is being supported. Whether it is sweet, savoury, a gift or weekly purchase, the website can point consumers in the direction of sourcing quality regional food, as close as possible to their front door.
To indulge in British food and drink from elsewhere in the country, the website lists more than 3,100 producers in the UK, leaving consumers spoilt for choice. There is something to satisfy everyones tastebuds on the site, whether its a craving for authentic Stilton, creamy Wensleydale or perhaps a yearning for traditional Cornish clotted cream to slather on scones.
Find My Nearest is the latest feature to be launched on the ever-growing website which offers online shopping via The Market and Buyers Zone areas. It also provides producers with the chance to list details of their companies and products in the Producer Area, as well as an online calendar of regional activities under Events.
Jane Wakeling, Regional Foods Manager, adds, The website is part of Food from Britains regional food and drink campaign, funded by Defra, which enables support to local producers each year. The campaign comprises trade development activities, projects to raise consumer awareness of Britains regional food and drink and helps producers become more competitive. We are continually looking for ways to support producers and Find My Nearest is the most recent tool we are offering.
