Borough Market has over the past few months won three major awards: The Evening Standard Londons Best Shopping Experience Award The Evening Standard Londons Best Market Award The NABMA (National Association of British Market Authorities) Best Speciality Market 2008 Award

Graham Wilson, NABMAs Chief Executive, said that Borough had The little extra ingredient that persuaded the judges it was a worthy winner. Upon being congratulated on Boroughs win by celebrity chef Antony Worrall Thompson, George Nicholson, a Trustee of Borough Market, said: We were thrilled to get the award, particularly since it comes from our peers in the nations market industry.

The NABMA Award Ceremony will be held at a special breakfast at Roast restaurant in Borough Market at 9.30am on Wednesday 9th April 2008.

With 2,000 years of history and having gained increased recognition since it registered as a charity in 1999, Borough Market is renowned throughout the UK for the excellence of its fresh food and its wide range of traders. It is also an important social and cultural forum for Londoners. Upon collecting the Evening Standard award in November, Trustee Will Sibley said: Our aim at Borough Market is to educate, enthuse and excite. To bring sights, smells, tastes and experiences to the people of London, and to support the small farmers, growers, producers and importers that put so much effort into the produce they sell. Borough Market is a thriving combination of wholesale and retail, with wholesale fruit and vegetable trading taking place at night and retail trading happening on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. In addition to this, many of the markets retailers are also now trading wholesale, neatly closing the circle of the markets regeneration. Borough market will continue to evolve to meet Londoners needs and retain its position as the countrys most important retail market for fine foods. The trustees of The Borough Market believe everyone has the right to eat well.
