Queenstowns Bezu Bar and Restaurant this month added a prestigious accolade to its growing list of tributes. A gold plate announcing the 2007 New Zealand Beef & Lamb Hallmark of Excellence for two of the restaurants dishes now sits in Bezus entrance cabinet.
The New Zealand Beef & Lamb Awards are New Zealands longest-running restaurant awards and recognise consistency and quality in the preparation and presentation of beef and lamb cuisine.
Bezu General Manager and Head Chef Gary Clarke was recognised for his skillfully composed and superbly presented beef and lamb dishes in the recent awards.
The lamb and beef dishes can only be described as faultless - well deserving of the Hallmark award, said judges who visited the restaurant anonymously late last year.
Judges were also pleased with the impeccable standard and presentation of the dishes.
Established by experienced New Zealand hospitality operators Frenzi Group, company director and Queenstown resident Roy Thompson said the restaurant team was delighted to add the awards to their collection.
Bezu has been open for little more than a year and our team has worked hard to achieve at a very high level. Last year Bezu was the only establishment in Queenstown to be recognised in the national hospitality industry awards scheme, the 2006 Hospitality Association of New Zealand (HANZ) Awards for Excellence, where it was a National Finalist in two categories. Its wonderful to back this up with awards for Garys menu creations.
Bezu was designed to bring a totally new dining and entertainment experience to Queenstown, delivering a uniquely New Zealand feel to local, national and international clientele. Exquisite yet simple and hearty food in sumptuous yet casual and comfortable surroundings has always been our goal, he said.
Bezu is located by the waterfall on Brecon Street in the Sofitel building.
