All Rise For The innocent pomegranates & raspberries smoothie

Innocent Drinks

Pomegranates have sometimes been considered a royal fruit because of their princely blossom crown and wed have to agree.

Not so much because they look a bit regal, but more because they are so good for you.

Did you know that one single pomegranate provides 40 per cent of an adult's recommended daily allowance of vitamin C, and contains three times the antioxidant properties of red wine or green tea?

Pomegranates are also a rich source of folic acid and vitamins A and E. Pretty impressive.

So when we were thinking about what other fruit to combine it with for our next recipe, what better suitor than the King of Berries?

Yes, thats right, the raspberry. Fragrantly sweet with a slightly tart overtone, raspberries are the perfect compliment to the pomegranates bittersweet flavour. Whats more, they are a good source of soluble fibre which can help lower high cholesterol levels.

The result is a delicious, slightly tangy crimson smoothie thats fit for a king. 4

Like all our smoothies, innocent pomegranates & raspberries is a blend of 100% pure crushed fruit and juices (never ever from concentrate) and absolutely nothing else, giving you two and a half portions of fruit.

innocent pomegranates & raspberries smoothie is available from 1st August for just three months from Sainsburys, Somerfield, Waitrose and lots of lovely independent shops throughout the UK and will have an RRP of 1.75 - .1.99. For your nearest stockist, call the banana phone on 020 8600 3939.

Thats all for now

About the fruit in this smoothie

Pomegranates Pomegranates are a great source of vitamin C. One pomegranate provides most of the body's daily potassium needs, a little vitamin C, a healthy dose of fibre and no fat. Oh, and the little seeds that make up the pomegranate are called jewels.

Raspberries - there are over 200 different known species of raspberries but only two are grown on a large scale. Raspberries are a good source of soluble fibre which can help lower high cholesterol levels.

Grapes - the skin of grapes contains resveratrol, the stuff that makes red wine good for you (in moderation of course). Resveratrol is a natural antioxidant that inhibits the stickiness of blood platelets and helps blood vessels remain open and flexible. Research has shown that resveratrol lowers overall blood cholesterol too

About innocent

innocent is the number one smoothie brand in the UK with a market share of 65%1. We sell over one million fresh, healthy drinks each week in 7,000 outlets - everywhere from Boots to Sainsburys to your local deli. Launched seven years ago, it is still the only range of 100% pure fruit smoothies that uses fresh, rather than concentrated juices. The team has grown from three to 105 people who work across Europe. Last year we turned over 38 million and this year we are aiming for 70 million.

As a business we want to make it easy for people to do themselves some good. And we want to leave the planet a little bit better than we found it. This is reflected in everything from our use of green electricity at Fruit Towers, to sourcing fruit from places that go the extra mile in terms of looking after the people that work on the farms, and the environment. As of July 2006 we are proud to say that all our bananas will come from Rainforest Alliance accredited farms. Every single year we donate 10% of our profits to the innocent foundation, which funds NGOs in the countries where we source our fruits.
