A Taste Of Sophistication For Fathers Day: Chilled Tawny Port

Cockburn

Tawny served chilled? Traditionally, port has been synonymous with cold winters nights, slippers and smoking jackets. To break the mould this Fathers Day, try the new way to drink port. Chilled COCKBURNS ® 10 Year Old Tawny Port tastes delectable before or after a summers day meal, making it a refreshing gift for the 15th June - and having been aged in oak casks, it is ready to drink straightaway.

Light, dry and bursting with walnut, almond and raisin flavours, Cockburns 10 Year Old Tawny is the deep amber-coloured relative of ruby port. The wine is blended in small oak barrels using premium wines of different ages; younger wines for vigour and freshness and older ones for complexity and maturity - all with an average age of 10 years.

Made from hand-picked grapes, grown amidst the stunning beauty of the Douro Superior Valley in northern Portugal and trodden traditionally in lagares, Cockburns 10 Year Old Tawny Port has a fresh aroma with a delicate nuttiness that permeates its rich complexity.

Miguel Côrte-Real, Cockburns viticultural director, comments, A good winemaker is often defined by their ability to blend an excellent aged tawny. With Cockburns 10 Year Old Tawny Port, I have sought to produce an elegant, drinkable style that can be enjoyed with friends all year round.

How to serve: Cockburns 10 Year Old Tawny is best served well chilled as an aperitif or digestif straight in a wine glass - a 100ml measure is recommended. Alternatively, it can be served slightly chilled with creamy cheeses, risotto, dried fruits, nuts and chocolates.

COCKBURNS 10 Year Old Tawny Port is available in Sainsburys, RRP £9.29 (37.5cl bottle)
