Spicers Clovelly Estate has again been recognised for culinary excellence after winning an award at the 2012 Savour Australia Restaurant & Catering awards in Brisbane.
The luxurious Montville property's onsite restaurant, The Long Apron, was named Best Fine Dining Restaurant for the Sunshine Coast region.
The awards, which are overseen by more than 500 trained judges and with more than 1500 entrants Australia wide, set a benchmark for excellence in the restaurant and catering industry.
The Long Apron is headed by acclaimed chef Cameron Matthews and has become a must-do destination for foodies from around Australia, specialising in personalised service with an innovative European-inspired degustation menu paired with a selective wine list.
"Our whole team is extremely passionate about creating a unique gourmet experience for our guests and this award is another exciting achievement for The Long Apron," Matthews said.
"We are all about using fresh, local produce and unique ingredients which take diners on a journey that tantalizes, entertains and delights.
We are very proud of this latest achievement which reinforces the high standards we set for ourselves."
The restaurant has won numerous awards including recently receiving one star in The Top 100 restaurants in the country in the 2013 Australian Gourmet Traveller Restaurant Guide.
It also received Two Hats and was named Regional Restaurant of the Year in the 2012 Queensland Good Food Guide Awards, and was voted Best Prestige Restaurant at the 2011 Queensland Hotels Association Awards.
The restaurant's award-winning menu includes innovative creations such as their signature Hervey Bay Scallops with local fresh scallops, Kenilworth yoghurt, Maleny cream, Mooloolaba squid and herbs from the restaurant's kitchen garden.
Other unique creations dished up in The Long Apron include watermelon sashimi with goat's curd, mint and peas; slow roasted lamb belly with sesame, black cardamom, date and onion molasses; and hay aged and roasted duck breast, celeriac, chestnut, berries, pickled rhubarb.
Spicers Clovelly Estate hotel manager Juliette Fuller said the award was a great honour for The Long Apron.
"We are very proud of Cameron and our team who are consistently bringing amazing food, great wine and impeccable service to The Long Apron tables," she said.
"Our dishes change with the seasons, but diners will always find plates that showcase fine produce characterised by flavour and complexity as well as intricate and elegant presentation. Cameron puts his heart and soul into every dish and this has been recognised time and time again through the numerous awards the restaurant has collected."
Set on nine hectares of lush country land in the hills of Montville, Spicers Clovelly Estate is a French-inspired retreat and guesthouse offering luxurious accommodation, a professional day spa onsite, a European-themed cooking school and, of course, the award-winning Long Apron restaurant.
The Long Apron restaurant is open for dinner six days a week (bookings recommended).
