TV CHEF CHING-HE HUANG'S FOOD VOYAGE TO HONG KONG & MACAU - NEW FILMS AND
RECIPES FROM TWO OF ASIA'S GREATEST FOOD DESTINATIONS
TV chef and cookery author Ching-He Huang - the hottest face of Chinese cooking in the UK, US and Asia - has returned from a culinary voyage of discovery filming in Hong Kong and Macau. The two Special
Administrative Regions of China, just 40 miles apart, are among Asia's greatest food destinations offering the perfect blend of East-West cuisine. Ching's explorations are shown in a series of short films now available on her website www.chinghehuang.com.
CHING'S HONG KONG EXPERIENCE [5 minute Overview & 2 minute overview]:
Ching-He Huang travelled to Hong Kong to showcase why the city has become a place not to just visit, but to experience. Famous for its impressive sky line and unique ‘East meets West’ culture, Hong Kong also boasts a vast culinary scene, endless shopping districts and lively nightlife, making it the ultimate cosmopolitan
destination.
During her stay, Ching met with Hong Kong designers, chefs and other local talent to get an insight into the unique and vibrant living culture that forms Hong Kong. Such as shopping for one-off purchases on the Hollywood Road, trying Hong Kong’s private kitchens - the latest trend to emerge on the wine and dine scene, and haggling for the best prices at the Wet Markets in Central. Ching also visited upcoming districts that are fast becoming must see destinations in their own right, such as Sham Shui Po famous for delicious and authentic Cantonese food and Eastern (Tai Koo) for roof top cocktails with a view.
Ching also travelled on the infamous Star Ferry across the harbour, took a visit to Victoria Peak for the unrivalled views of the skyline and watched the Symphony of Lights from an authentic Junk Boat, Aqua Luna, activities a trip to Hong Kong wouldn’t be complete without.
CHING'S MACAU EXPERIENCE [Ching explores Macau]:
Macau is famed for its amazingly diverse food scene. Along with some of the best Portuguese food
outside Portugal, Chinese cuisine of all kinds and award-winning international restaurants Macau is home to the unique Macanese cuisine.
One of the original fusion cuisines, Macanese food blends Portuguese flavours and cooking styles with local Chinese cuisine as well as drawing on influences from Africa, India, South America and Malaysia. During her time in Macau, Ching's food adventure took in a wide range of gastronomic experiences including learning to cook Macanese food with local chef David Wong and taste the famous pasteis de nata (egg tarts) at the celebrated Lord Stow’s Bakery with owner Eileen Stow.
Ching also visited local sites and attractions from the beautiful architecture of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Historic Centre of Macau to the stunning views from the 338m high Macau Tower.
Ching says, "I've had an amazing trip savouring the food delights and sites of these remarkable destinations - where better to enjoy the melting pot of East-meets-West cultures and cuisines than in Hong Kong and Macau. My passion is fusion food and I'm excited to share my discoveries from this trip in my films alongside some new recipes influenced by my travel experiences."
