Queensland Men's Worst Nightmare Revealed

Forget being left at the altar without a bride, watching your team lose the grand final or missing out on a division one jackpot by a single number.

A new survey by Great Northern Brewing Co reveals running out of beer on a hot summer day to be the worst fear of Queensland men.

According to the survey, 35 per cent of Queensland blokes aged 18-65 think there's nothing worse than running out of beer on a hot summer day, followed by having no air con (22 per cent) and changing a flat tyre on the highway (21 per cent).

The survey also confirms Queensland men prefer to enjoy a beer in the great outdoors, with 60 per cent naming the backyard as the number one place they like to crack open a cold one.

More than a quarter (27 per cent) named fishing as the number one summer outdoor activity worthy of a cold beer after, followed by cricket (15 per cent) and golf (14 per cent).

Great Northern co-creator and Carlton & United Breweries (CUB) Queensland General Manager Cameron Levick said the results were hardly surprising, given Queensland men's legendary thirst for cold beer.

"Slim Dusty summed it all up when he sang there's nothing so lonesome, morbid or drear as a pub with no beer," he said.

"This love of beer is hardwired into the DNA of Queensland men, who love nothing more than a cold, refreshing ale in summer."

Mr Levick said Queensland men know exactly what they want then it comes to drinking beer.

"They're hardly a surprising bunch, Queensland blokes are pretty straightforward - give them a cold beer in the great outdoors and they're happy as Larry," he said.

"More and more Queensland men are making Great Northern their beer of choice because it's a great local drop produced in Queensland, by Queenslanders, for Queenslanders."

Mr Levick said to cope with the seasonal demand, production of Great Northern at the Yatala brewery will increase by 100 per cent in December*.

"We've had the bottling plant at full capacity, so there'll be plenty of Great Northern to go around this summer," he said.

"It's rolling off the production line in the vast quantities that are needed to quench Queensland blokes' thirst in the great outdoors this summer."
