Get your Hands Dirty with Costa at Bondi Farmers Market

Bondi Farmers Markets

Host of the ABC's Gardening Australia program and International Compost Awareness Week ambassador, Costa Georgiadis, will host a demonstration and education session on composting for the community.

In support of International Compost Awareness Week, the Eastern Suburbs council's Waverley, Randwick and Woollahra have joined together to create local initiative, The Compost Revolution.

As part of the revolution, locals are invited to get their hands dirty, at Bondi Farmers Market in a "learn by doing" experience where, together with Costa, locals will create a compost heap at the school and learn just how easy it is to do at home.

Costa, will be joined by Waverley Councils, compost revolution leader JP, Local sustainability group Bondi Transition, Hapi the Farmer, and the rest of the Bondi Farmers market team.

The Bondi Farmer Markets launched in April 2011 and has just celebrated its first Birthday. Each week the market bridges the gap between the bush and the beach, attracting hundreds of local residents.

Bondi Farmers Market's spokesperson Jane McDermott says "The compost revolution is the perfect fit for the Bondi Farmers Market. The kids of Bondi Beach Public School have been growing their own gardens on the school grounds for some time now, it makes sense to grow their learning through demonstration and education on the benefits of composting"

On the Day

12 May 2012, Bondi Farmers Market, Bondi Beach Public School 9-1

The compost session will commence at 11am
