A consumer ice cream survey conducted by Choice has revealed what many Coles customers already knew: Coles Classic Vanilla Ice Cream is a scoop ahead of the rest.

Ranked number one in the survey, conducted by 60 panelists taste testing 32 vanilla ice creams, Coles Classic Vanilla trumped its supermarket private label and premium brand competitors and rated highly in the categories of flavour, texture and taste and if the taste tester would purchase it.

The creamy vanilla flavour is no stranger to success, having previously been awarded a Silver Medal in the 2010 National DIAA Dairy Industry Awards, run by the Dairy Industry Association of Australia.

Priced at $5.29 for 2 litres, Coles Classic Vanilla is almost a fifth of the price of some of the other top-ranking flavours in the taste test, proving an expensive price tag does not imply quality, according to Coles Head of Housebrand Marketing, Simon Brady.

"Our investment in the quality of Coles brand products has certainly paid off and it's great to have it recognised by independent taste testers," said Simon.

"We strive to offer our customers great value and it's rewarding to see an ice cream at almost a fifth of the price of other leading contenders come out on top - a true Aussie underdog!"

The Coles Classic Vanilla is one of seven products in this creamy, Australian Made ice cream range, made from buttermilk and containing no artificial colours or flavours. RRP for each product is $5.29.
