South Asian mangoes are widely believed to be among the best-tasting fruit in the world. In the UK, they cause queues outside South Asian community grocers every summer, with people in the know waiting patiently for the first boxes to land.

AlphonsoMango.co.uk delivers the season's best premium mangoes from India and Pakistan to doorsteps across the UK.

After selling over 150 boxes per week in their first season, www.alphonsomango.co.uk is preparing for a much bigger year ahead. The founders, Satya and David, who have known each other since they were 11, started the business with one mission: South Asian mangoes are so good, they deserve to be celebrated in the UK like truffle or porcini season.

Extended Season to Four Months

New for 2026: AlphonsoMango.co.uk is adding Pakistani mango varieties Chaunsa and Sindhri to extend the UK mango season to nearly four months of world-class South Asian mangoes.

Our 2026 mango season varieties:

  • Mid-April – June: The famous Alphonso mango arrives from India, known for its buttery texture, deep orange flesh and intense fragrance.
  • June – July: Kesar and Badami mangoes follow, extending the Indian mango season into mid-summer.
  • July – August (NEW for 2026): Pakistani favourites Chaunsa and Sindhri arrive, two world-class South Asian mangoes that extend the season through to the end of August.

This new addition means UK customers can now enjoy premium South Asian mangoes for nearly four months straight.

More Than Just Fruit

For Satya, and many South Asians, this is personal.

“Growing up, mango season was everything. Sitting with family, peeling them by hand, juice running everywhere. It's not just fruit, it's memory and part of our culture.”

David agrees.

“When I first tried a proper sun-ripened Indian mango, I couldn't believe how tasty they were. The depth of flavour, the smell filling the room. Most people in the UK have never tasted a properly ripened Alphonso or Chaunsa. Once you do, it's hard to go back to supermarket varieties.”

Premium, Seasonal and Growing Fast

Last year's sales figures suggest this is no longer just nostalgia. Around 50 percent of customers are not South Asian, mainly foodies curious or already familiar with these mangoes. London leads demand, but orders now come from across mainland UK including Scotland, Birmingham, Leicester and more.

One in four customers reordered last season, with many buying multiple boxes across the window. After selling out quickly in the early weeks of last year, the founders are better prepared for the demand this season.

At around £25 for a box of 12 mangoes, with average orders of £35, the brand positions itself firmly in the premium category. The fruit is air-freighted and shipped as soon as it lands to maximise freshness and give customers more time to enjoy them. The minimum order is 12 per box. Not a problem, according to the founders. “When they're that good and in season, we can easily eat two or three a day.”

Deserving of a Place in Modern Britain's Seasonal Food Calendar

Unlike most supermarket mangoes, which are bred for shipping and picked early, these varieties are prized for flavour first. Rich, sweet, fibreless and intensely aromatic. When they are gone, they are gone.

Satya and David believe South Asian mangoes deserve pride of place in Britain's food calendar.

“

The UK is one of the most diverse countries in the world. People are curious food lovers here. Premium fruit is becoming more of a trend. We believe these mangoes should sit alongside other celebrated seasonal ingredients. They are some of the world's best.”

Mango season begins in mid-April.

And for those counting down, it will not last forever.
