Accor Fights Against Human Trafficking with Blue Dragon Children's Foundation

Accor

Accor, a world-leading hospitality group, continues its long-standing commitment to support disadvantaged communities through its renewed partnership with Blue Dragon Children's Foundation, a non-profit organisation working to eradicate human trafficking in Vietnam. Now in its third year, the partnership reflects Accor's enduring commitment to protect vulnerable children and working closely with local communities to help create safer futures.

Accor's Heartists, as Accor employees are referred to, in Vietnam once again came together for the Blue Dragon Marathon Walk, a fundraising initiative that has grown into an annual movement of solidarity. This year, more than 1,300 Heartists participated, raising VND 1,248,780,454 (approximately USD 47,500) for the cause. This contribution builds on the VND 1,210,000,000 raised collectively through the 2023 and 2024 events, demonstrating the continued dedication of hotel teams across Vietnam.

This donation will contribute to rescuing more than 20 people from human trafficking. More than 60 survivors will receive care as they rebuild their lives and nearly 60 children will continue their school education, while more than 50 young adults will be enrolled in vocational training programmes that open doors to long-term, sustainable employment. The funding will also support life-skills workshops and trafficking-prevention training for more than 1,800 people, helping communities gain the knowledge and confidence to stay safe and protect one another.

Xavier Cappelut, Vice President of Operations for Accor in Vietnam, the Philippines, and the Maldives, said: “Being caretakers in the communities and destinations where we operate is at the heart of who we are. Our hotels are part of their local communities, and we take this role to heart by helping to create environments that are safe, supportive, and nurturing. Our partnership with Blue Dragon Children's Foundation cements this belief. By engaging closely with communities, empowering young people with opportunities, and safeguarding those who are most vulnerable, we help build stronger, more secure futures. The continued passion of our teams in Vietnam is a reminder of what we can achieve when we come together with purpose.”

Blue Dragon Children's Foundation is a non-profit organisation dedicated to eradicating human trafficking in Vietnam. The foundation adopts a comprehensive, multi-front approach, from rescuing young people from exploitative situations and supporting their recovery, to delivering large-scale prevention programmes in vulnerable communities. Insights from this frontline work also inform Blue Dragon's advocacy efforts, contributing to meaningful policy and legal reform. To date, the organisation has rescued nearly 2,000 trafficking survivors, and its wide-reaching support impacts more than 40,000 people each year.

By supporting Blue Dragon Children's Foundation, Accor strengthens its role as a caretaker for people and communities, placing this responsibility at the core of its long-term strategy and vision. Giving back remains central to Accor's purpose, ensuring that hospitality extends beyond accommodation to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.
