Middle-earth is coming to the Gold Coast as Lord of the Rings - A Musical Tale opens for its Queensland debut at HOTA, Home of the Arts, on 4 July 2025 as part of its national tour.
Presented in an exclusive season for Queensland, this epic new production brings J.R.R. Tolkien's timeless tale to life in a bold, theatrical reimagining filled with music, magic, and unforgettable storytelling.
In time for the winter school holidays fans of the beloved epic trilogy will follow Frodo's legendary quest across Middle-earth, played out on the HOTA stage.
Featuring an original score, dynamic staging, and breathtaking performances, the production invites audiences to experience the spirit of Tolkien's world through a fresh lens.

Perfect for families, fans and musical theatre lovers, the production offers a spectacular experience that blends fantasy with contemporary theatrical flair.

The production will feature some of Australia's most acclaimed musical theatre performers and actor-musicians coming together on the Gold Coast including Jemma Rix as Galadriel, Ian Stenlake as Saruman, Rob Mallett as Strider and Rarmian Newton as Frodo Baggins.

Laurence Boxhall as Gollum, Andrew Broadbent as Elrond, Hannah Buckley as Pippin, Stefanie Caccamo as Arwen, Rohan Campbell as Boromir, Jeremi Campese as Merry, Ruby Clark as Rosie, Terence Crawford as Gandalf, Wern Mak as Samwise Gamgee, Rob Mallett as Strider, Connor Morel as Gimli, Rarmian Newton as Frodo Baggins, Conor Neylon and Hanlon Innocent as Legolas, Jemma Rix as Galadriel and Ian Stenlake as Saruman.
Completing the production are Georgia Anderson, Gianna Cheung, Nicholas Cunningham, Cameron Davey, Natasha Dumlao, James Frampton, Anthony Garcia, Jonathan Gardner, Matt Hourigan, Esther Lukins, Jayme Jo Massoud, Patrick Schnur, James Whiting and Zayneb Zerzouri.
