The centrepiece of the meeting and event space stable, which encompasses 762 sqm in total, is the vast 295 sqm Sir Charles Todd Ballroom; a pillarless, flexible space with soaring 4-meter-high ceilings and striking arch lighting accents, named in honour of the legendary force behind the building of the Overland Telegraph Line.
Adjacent to a pre-function area providing guests with a comfortable space to register or mingle, the ballroom can host up to 320 guests, making it an ideal space for large events. Kitted with state-of-the-art AV integration features, including an epic 220-inch LED wall, it also has a vertical sound absorbing partitioning system that allows the room to be effortlessly reconfigured as two separate spaces, suited to delivering concurrent sessions and facilitating break-out workshops.
For weddings, the ballroom provides a sophisticated setting for celebrating the most special of occasions, with capacity for up to 120 people, along with a dance floor. Weddings are personally overseen by a experienced wedding planner, with the hotel itself providing a glorious architectural backdrop for photos, whether against the mid-20th century-inspired internal fit-out or the honey-toned textural sandstone of the GPO's historic building. Additionally, there's the option to stay in an opulent bridal suite.
Exquisitely framed by heritage arch windows that tranquilly bathe the space in natural light and afford occupants views of King William Street's famed tree canopy, the Archive Room can accommodate up to 120 guests for a cocktail event or 80 seated. Like the ballroom, it can be split into two smaller, adjacent spaces, with separate entry points – a perfect solution for exclusive corporate events.
The Light Room, named after Colonel William Light, who designed Adelaide's visionary park-framed city layout – is a contemporary event space, basked in floor to ceiling natural light. Accommodating up to 20 guests, it's an ideal setting for creative small meetings.
The most intimate event space at the new Adelaide Marriott Hotel is the refined Drawing Room, located inside the GPO's heritage section. With capacity for up to 20 people, it's well-tailored to hosting private dining events, board meetings and team-building breakouts.
