You Would Be Hard Pressed to Find a Better Priced Cold Pressed Rapeseed Oil

Borderfields

With a bleak economic backdrop and recent high inflationary pressures shoppers are now, perhaps more than ever, cautious about what makes it into their shopping baskets. Olive oil prices have soared to never seen levels and people are rightly questioning why.

Nick Grogan, Group Commercial Manager, Borderfields and Hammond Food Oils suggests we have reached the point at which the eyes of loyal olive oil consumers have started to wander across the shelf to see what other competing oils are on offer.

British Cold Pressed Rapeseed is the unsung hero of the oils fixture in many supermarkets. Grown and produced across the UK, production methods are closely aligned with those of its Mediterranean competitor. Like Extra Virgin Olive oil, Cold Pressed Rapeseed oil is produced by mechanically pressing the rapeseed to extract the oil. After careful filtration, there are no chemical extraction techniques used and no further processing takes place, it's simply bottled ready to be enjoyed.

Unlike Olive oils, Cold Pressed Rapeseed oil boasts versatility in the kitchen as it can be used in both hot and cold cooking applications. Having one of the highest smoke points of all culinary oils, Cold Pressed Rapeseed oil can be used for frying, roasting, baking as well as drizzling and dipping. As it isn't a refined oil, it retains 100% of its natural goodness, including a deliciously rich and smooth taste. Cold Pressed Rapeseed oil contains less than half the saturated fat of Olive oil, a naturally rich blend of Omegas 3,6 & 9 as well as Vitamin E.

Perhaps in the current economy its best attribute is its price, which is significantly lower than Extra Virgin Olive oil. A 500ml bottle of Borderfields Cold Pressed Rapeseed oil in UK supermarkets can be found as low as £3.00 – you might say that's a domestic delight.

Notes:

Rapeseed oil is from the third most important crop grown in the UK after wheat and barley. It is the only commonly used culinary oil that can be widely found and is both grown and bottled in the UK. Other vegetable oils, such as olive or sunflower, are primarily imported from mainland Europe or further afield.

Borderfields is grown, harvested, and pressed in the UK. This helps control the quality from the seed to the bottle and allows production of high-quality oil that retains its natural goodness.
