New Filipino Fusion restaurant in Ewell ramps up for Summer 2024

25 March 2024, Ewell, Surrey. New Filipino Fusion restaurant, The Rambling Pig, which opened less than seven months ago, is fast gaining recognition as a local gem and a destination for innovative Asian food and cocktails in Surrey. 

In February, the restaurant, which occupies a prominent corner position in Ewell High Street, was listed as a new entrant at number 96 on the highly respected Estrella Damm Top 100 Gastro Pub list—the only restaurant in the county to have ranked on the list, which is voted for by hospitality industry experts. 

The reason for its success is down to its family-style, sharing concept menu, created by Executive Chef Francis Puyat and Head Chef Peter Olsavsky, which draws on authentic Filipino flavours, spices, and ingredients while also adding gastropub classics with a Filipino twist. 

Priding itself on bringing Filipino tradition to life—great food, smooth drinks, and environments that celebrate family and party times—there’s karaoke and private party rooms upstairs too! - the team is busy preparing for their first Spring/Summer season with updates to the spacious beer garden, the installation of a BBQ area, and new menu offerings.

What’s on at The Rambling Pig

Whole Hog Fire Sunday Roast
Every last Sunday of the month, a whole hog fire roast will be on offer alongside the usual ala carte menu and signature Boodle Fight, a family-style Filipino Sunday Roast that sees a host of delicious sharing dishes, including signature crispy roast pork, laid out for everyone to tuck into. 

Oyster & Champagne Sundays 
Every Sunday, you can also feast on half-priced oysters and Champagne cocktails all day long, alongside the ala carte menu. 

Happy Hour & Beer Garden 
Drinks are serious business at The Rambling Pig. This summer, the cocktail list will offer something to suit all tastes. Expect Asian-inspired ingredients and exotic flavours such as Don Papa 7yr Rum, Ume Plum Liquor, horseradish vodka, and homemade lemongrass, chilli and ginger cordial. 

In keeping with the fun and laid-back vibe, you can enjoy Happy Hour prices every Wednesday–Sunday from 5-7 pm or 2 of the same cocktails for £15.  

As soon as the weather improves – hopefully over the Easter weekend – guests will be able to enjoy their meal, or drinks and a few small plates in the secluded, covered garden.

Mid-Week Lunch Menu 
During the week, the team has introduced an excellent value mid-week lunch-sharing menu to encourage people to come and try their brand of Filipino fusion cuisine. 5 dishes between 2 for £22 pp, with a dessert to share for £25 pp. Available Thursday–Sunday, 12–3 p.m.

Take-Away Lunch Boxes

On Thursday and Friday, there’s also the option of grabbing a tasty take-away lunch box featuring crispy chicken, slow-roasted pork, or a Ginataan prawn or pumpkin curry to enjoy at your desk or in al fresco, in the grounds of Bourne Hall. £9 -11.

Children’s Menu 
The Rambling Pig is somewhere for the whole family to enjoy.  It offers a children’s menu called Little Delights, priced at £9 for a main plus a side, featuring accessible Filipino dishes such as Chicken Adobo, Pork Belly and Ukoy Fritters as well as Crumbled Halloumi Fingers and Mac & Cheese.
