Eminent purveyors of London spirits and part of the Mangrove Global portfolio, Portobello Road Distillery have launched not one, not two, but three new limited-edition liquids this month – perfect for the festive rush.
Portobello Road are well known for their exclusive runs of uniquely flavoured expressions having previously created spirits that wowed spirits fans by featuring the flavours of asparagus, parsnip and pear, and Mexican Pechuga Mezcals. The upcoming releases are no different, featuring unexpected flavours that are sure to warm up great British gin-lovers, from the inside out, this winter.
Starting with Director's Cut No. 5, this is the fifth expression of a highly-sought after collection and is flavoured with five types of Juniper Berry. Coming in at a potent 47.3% ABV, this is a great winter tipple that uses berries sourced from across the globe.
Next up is Mince Pie Sloe Gin, a 30% ABV spirit that's flavoured with Portobello Road's signature 'Mince Pie distillate' a secret recipe which is added before the spirit is rested in ex-whiskey barrels for a quintessentially festive flavour.
Not satisfied with just releasing two limited edition gins – the distillery also decided to create a limited-edition vodka, crafted in partnership with Chef Brett Graham of Notting Hill's The Ledbury. Local Heroes No.1 Mushroom Cabinet Vodka, uses ingredients from the chef's homegrown mushroom collection to create an intense but elegant flavoured spirit that's free of any additives.
Nick Gillett, Managing Director of Mangrove Global said:
“We are well aware of the increasing popularity of limited-edition spirits – especially from distillers who are renowned for creativity and distilling excellence. Portobello Road is one such producer.
“These new products showcase just how good the team are at creating, collaborating, and innovating their range – all for the benefit of spirit drinkers everywhere.”
Each spirit has been created in runs of 1,000 units – meaning that customers who want to get their hands on a bottle will have to act fast. Whilst these bottles will mainly be sold through the off-trade (hitting the lips of thirsty customers UK-wide) a bottle or two may be found in select bars, adding festive flourish to cocktails and simple serves. The spirits will also be enjoyed by those tasting at the Ginstitute and the distillery itself.
Co -founder and director of Portobello Road Distillery, Jake F Burger, said “Our limited editions have always allowed us to be as creative as possible as distillers and our partnerships over the years have stoked the fires of innovation within the team. This year is exceptional in that we had three ideas for completely differing products that were simply too fantastic to whittle down. As such, we have three new liquids that are all incredibly exciting. We can promise that there is something for all spirit fans.”
The three limited edition spirits are available now and can be purchased from www.the-distillery.london and www.portobelloroadgin.com.
