Flapjackery's luxurious and decadent Advent Calendar Box (£52) promises a daily treat throughout December of delicious gluten free flapjack pieces.         

There are 24 wrapped half pieces of flapjack that come in delicious-sounding flavours like Christmas Orange Flapjack, Burnt Caramel & Sea Salt Flapjack and Billionaires Flapjack that are packed in a box, or add numbered advent bags to your order and pop them in there.

The flapjacks are handmade in Devon on the edge of Dartmoor using only British oats, locally-sourced West Country ingredients, fair-trade brown sugar and real butter. 

The advent calendar box can be ordered for delivery from the middle of October. If no date is specified they will be dispatched the week commencing November 15.

The flapjacks are delivered to your door in recyclable cardboard boxes and have a shelf life of three months. All the flapjacks are gluten free.

About Flapjackery's founders Carol Myott and Sally Jenkin

Carol Myott, 63 and Sally Jenkin, 60 launched luxury flapjack business Flapjackery, in 2015 having met at a farmers' market in Tavistock west Devon where they both baked cakes to sell. 

Carol had retired to Devon having run a print business, Sally was selling communication systems for the elderly before setting up and running her own local fudge shop.

They shared a passion for home cooking with quality British ingredients, so one day Carol came up with the idea of making flapjacks.

They made a few samples and took them to Tavistock for people to try out. People loved them, so they perfected their recipes, created some more, and the idea of Flapjackery was born. A fortnightly pitch at Exeter University Farmers' Market followed and more events. Every time their flapjacks sold out!

They soon realised they couldn't possibly keep going in their own kitchens, and found an empty unit on an industrial estate in Tavistock, which already had a purpose built kitchen. 

They went from local markets to huge venues like the NEC in Birmingham where they admit they got a few funny looks from people as if to say “what are those two old ducks doing?” 

In 2018 they opened their first shop in Tavistock, and then with the core market of selling at big shows gone as a result of the pandemic, they remodelled their business to focus on online and retail.

In 2021 they opened shops in Wells and Minehead, in 2022 shops opened in Plymouth, St Ives and Bath. In 2023, Fowey was launched in June, in August a pop up store opened in Dartmouth, and new premises will open in Sidmouth and Lynton in September. Flapjackery @ Fordmore, a new concept with flapjacks sold from a wooden shack, will open.

Flapjackery has a current turnover of more than £1.5m+. In July 2023, more than 45,000 handmade flapjacks were purchased and consumed from Flapjackery.

Carol and Sally are proof that age is no barrier when it comes to creating a great business especially when there's a decadent, delicious treat at its heart!
