For immediate release June 2023: Humble Crumble, the world's first crumble bar dedicated to making perfect British grab-and-go crumbles, is moving its flagship bakery into new, larger premises at Old Spitalfields Market to keep up with ever growing customer demand.
With more than 500,000 crumbles served in the past three years in Spitalfields and its sister location in Borough Market, Humble Crumble is on an expansion roll. Two new bakeries will open later this year in Camden Market and Covent Garden.
That's good news for customers as waiting times, which have been as long as an hour and half for this delicious British dessert, will now be shorter. And a new, cool iPad ordering system will also speed up sales.
Founder Kim Innes (NatWest x Telegraph's 100 Female Entrepreneurs to Watch 2022) has created a menu to cater to every crumble lover's preferences. You can choose not only the fruits you want but the ratio of fruit to crumble. The new location has special iPads that let customers create their own crumbles from scratch.
Pick your topping - pillowy, torched meringue; hot, cold or frozen vanilla custard; dark chocolate drizzle - and combine it with the freshest fruits of your choice. The result: a perfectly made crumble, handmade onsite by the artisan team in a high tech bakery custom built for crumble.
Humble Crumble serves iced crumbles in the summer topped with refreshing frozen custard. You can even go healthy with their refined-sugar-free Superfood Granola.
Crumbrûlée and other delicacies
Humble Crumble's creation, the 'Crumbrûlée' - a hybrid between a crumble and a creme brûlée – is so popular, it's become a permanent item on the menu and Kim has even trademarked 'Crumbrûlée'!
Each month Humble Crumble introduces a limited edition seasonal flavour and we're peachy keen for the June special: Peach Cooler Crumble. Refreshing peaches infused with brown sugar and fresh mint, served chilled, topped with your choice of crumble, topped with our fabulously frozen or cold creamy custard.
Humble Crumble only uses sustainably produced ingredients because of its commitment to knowing that where we buy our food has a big impact on the world. Follow Humble Crumble on Instagram @humblecrumble and visit the website https://www.humble-crumble.com
Editors' notes:
Founder Kim Innes, who comes from St. Albans, was studying English Literature in Brighton when she noticed that in the winter the ice cream parlours were deserted. What kind of treat would go over well in winter? It was then she came up with the idea of the world's first crumble bar.
In 2022 Kim was named in the Natwest X Telegraph's 100 Female Entrepreneurs to Watch. 2023 sees the next stage of her plan to build 'an empire that crumbles' with two more sites opening in Camden Market and Covent Garden, in addition to the expansion at Spitalfields.
