As one of the first restaurants to offer meal boxes during the pandemic, The Elephant in Torquay has now launched an experience where chef owner Simon Hulstone and/ or head chef Ben Drake will arrive at the host's home ready to take over the kitchen and cook restaurant worthy meals for food lovers and their guests.

Simon Hulstone, who has won a multitude of awards over the three decades of his chef career, took the decision to launch the service as a means to expand the restaurant's offering during what is expected to be a challenging year.

The Elephant Chef at Home experience will be available to homes throughout Devon (for enquiries outside Devon please email with details) and will be tailored to each booking. Both Simon and Ben have extensive experience cooking at events outside the restaurant - from lunches and dinners at the Norwegian and American Embassies, restaurant takeovers to Simon creating a banquet for Team GB and their celebrity guests at the Royal Albert Hall fundraising event in 2012.

Simon has created the experience to reflect the ethos of The Elephant, with a focus on excellent local produce and perfectly balanced and executed dishes served in a relaxed and friendly manner.

He says, “The Elephant Chef at Home will build on the growing popularity of people enjoying meals boxes at home by taking it to another level of convenience and enjoyment. We have a reputation for excellent food without the stuffiness some expect from a long-standing Michelin-starred restaurant. Our Chef at Home experience will bring the quality of ingredients and attention to detail you'd expect from a fine-dining establishment with the option of keeping us hidden in the kitchen or recreating the full restaurant experience where we will present the food at the table. It's a fantastic option for those who love to entertain and the experience will be tailored to your wishes and budget.”

Prices for the Elephant Chef At Home service will start at £125 per person with a minimum spend of £750, all experiences will begin with a one to one phone consultation with Simon to discuss the options and bespoke elements to create a truly special experience for families, hosts and their guests.
