**Learn more about the Swedish concept of Fika herein this recent BBC article
December 2022:SCHNAPPS. IS. BACK…….. ALRIGHT! Gone are the days of dragging out that dusty old bottle at the back of granny's cocktail cabinet once a year, and memories of garish neon glittery shots slammed back in the student union. Flävar - a clear vodka-based schnapps - has arrived from Sweden, and Dancing Queens all over the UK are loving the glamorous makeover of this retro liquid. Flävar is inspired by the Swedish concept of Fika, a traditional Swedish ritual that emphasises the importance of connection, of taking a time out, and enjoying a sweet treat or two. It is time to find your Flävar!
Made with some of the freshest water in the world, expertly crafted on the shores of beautiful Lake Boren in Southern Sweden, this is a seriously smooth and stylish liquid encased in vivid designs and with a bottleneck proudly emblazoned with the Swedish flag. The secret to the great taste is award-winning vodka mixed with deliciously indulgent flavours: this is a clear, crisp mouth-watering schnapps - made for good times, for those with good taste, and lovers of delicious desserts too. There's no mistaking the distinctive herbal schnapps flavour though - a secret recipe - that is nostalgic of great nights out, but with an altogether more elevated taste experience.
Best served chilled as a shot, (tip - keep the shot glasses in the freezer!) Flävar is also the perfect cocktail base thanks to its smoothness. From cocktail newbies to seasoned mixologists alike - there's no limit to what you could create at home. Feeling fancy? Why not try Flävar's festive twists on classic cocktails - theSticky Toffee Espresso Martini, or the warming Cinnamon Bun Martini,(further inspired by Fika often involving a cinnamon bun!) or one for the pudding lovers - the Banoffee Martini, all with an original, punchy herbal aftertaste that will make you want to hit the dancefloor!

(all additional ingredients available from all major supermarkets / Amazon)
**Sticky Toffee Espresso Martini**
Toffee AND Coffee? Yes please! Creamy Toffee meets the indulgent Salted Caramel Flävar for a flavour sensation and a delicious twist on what was once a 90s cocktail fave, now pretty much on every cocktail menu everywhere.
Ingredients:
30ml Salted Caramel Flävar
30ml Toffee Liqueur
10ml Vanilla Syrup (or 1 tsp vanilla essence mixed with 1 tsp sugar)
50 ml Double Espresso
Method: Make the Espresso ahead of time and allow to cool, (or use Cold Brew Coffee). In a cocktail shaker, add plenty of ice, then all the other ingredients and shake for 30 secs. Strain into a Martini or Coupe glass and wait for the foam to settle before serving. Float a coffee bean or three on top to be extra chic!
**Cinnamon Bun Martini**
Is there anything more Christmassy than a delicious drink by a log fire? Recreate that wintery warming feeling with a dash of Scotch Liqueur, and the quintessential Swedish cinnamon. Swedish people often eat cinnamon buns during Fika. Scotch Liqueurs are smooth, sweet, with subtle spices such as anise, orange peel and oak: altogether the perfect Christmas flavours to mix with indulgent Salted Caramel Flävar. The Cinnamon and Nutmeg elevate this winter warmer to the most festive martini you'll try all season, and the coffee gives it a final rich kick.

45mlSalted Caramel Flävar
15ml Scotch Liqueur
60ml Strong Coffee (Hot)
15g Cinnamon & Demerara Sugar, mixed
Grated Nutmeg

Once well mixed, pour into a small stemmed wine glass, or glass coffee mug, leaving room to top up with the cream mixture. Holding a teaspoon so it barely touches the surface of the liquid in the glass, slowly pour the cream over the spoon so that it forms a layer on top of the drink. Sprinkle with some more nutmeg and cinnamon.
**Banoffee Martini**
Not too keen on Christmas Pud? Then this is the perfect dessert cocktail for you. Indulgence at its finest - Salted Caramel, rich Banana Rum, Vanilla and a hint of chocolate and lush cream. Forget Mince Pies - we're all about Banoffee Pie this year!

40ml Salted Caramel Flävar
20ml Banana Rum
15ml Vanilla Syrup
3 dashes Chocolate Bitters
50ml Double Cream
Method:In a cocktail shaker, add plenty of ice, then all ingredients and shake for 30 secs. Strain into a chilled tumbler over more ice, grate some good quality chocolate over the top and drink while wearing a paper party hat at a jaunty angle.
