CATCH AT THE OLD FISH MARKET LANDS ITS FIRST YEAR

12 months since launch, Catch at The Old Fish Market is going from strength to strength ─

The team at Catch at The Old Fish Market is celebrating its first year of opening with the business going from success to success.  Led by Executive Chef Mike Naidoo, the menu at Catch focuses on elegant, ingredient-lead dishes, with sustainability at its very core.  Just 6 months after opening Catch was featured in the Michelin Guide with its lobster bisque: “When a seafood restaurant is on a quay, you can be sure the fish is going to be fresh… and walking past the array of ethically-caught seafood will get you in the mood. The kitchen works with calm efficiency to create memorable dishes.”

Mike Naidoo, Executive Chef of Catch at The Old Fish Market comments: “The feedback from customers and the local community in this first year has been amazing and this is what the team is most proud of.  As we continue to explore and develop the menu, growing our own ingredients, working with more local and sustainable producers and showcasing the most sustainable seafood, I'm confident that Catch will continue to flourish.  The world is our oyster.”

Catch was conceived with sustainability front and centre, from supporting the tradition of small fishing boats in Weymouth Harbour, to being able to measure its food miles in feet and inches.   Owner Sean Cooper was determined to create a circular economy within Catch and its place in the local community.  A year into business and sustainability remains the focus of everything that happens within Catch.

Co-owner of Catch at The Old Fish Market Sean Cooper comments: “We couldn't be happier with the progress we have made in our first year, the team of chefs and front of house staff are outstanding and work with precision to provide the highest level of food and service.  The consistency of their work from creating the ambience of the restaurant, to the variety on the menu means that our customers come back again and again.

We are very proud to bring this offering to Weymouth, a fishing town with a rich history and beautiful harbour.  The Old Fish Market is a historic building with a long life overseeing the fishing industry of the town. We're so pleased that we have been able to breathe new life into this iconic business and one year in we have big plans for the future.”

Plans for Catch's future include looking at a second location nearby - to not only expand the offering but showcase more of what Weymouth and the local area has to offer, a hidden gem along Dorset's coast.  The team also plans to grow its own produce on land owned by the business, providing more jobs within the local community and guaranteeing growing techniques and provenance to further commit to its sustainability pledge.

As well as being featured in the Michelin Guide, Catch was also recognised by the Weymouth Civic Society for the restoration of the building and roof.  The business continues to move from strength to strength, firmly rooting itself as a focal point of Weymouth's historic harbour.
