CELEBRATE WORLD GIN DAY WITH THE AWARD-WINNING HENLEY GIN

The Henley Distillery may be one of the newest distilleries on the block, but the awards keep on coming. Just this month the Distillery has collected a trio of prizes in The Gin Guide Awards 2022, beating not only UK competition, but gins and distilleries from across the world, picking up New Distillery of the Year, Best New Traditional Gin for their Henley Gin Classic Dry and Best New Spiced Gin for the Henley Gin Oriental Spiced. The Henley Distillery was also named in the top five for Distillery of the Year, the only English distillery to feature.  With World Gin Day (11 June 2022) fast approaching, what better way to join this global celebration of all things gin, than with one of these award-winning tipples. 

BEST NEW TRADITIONAL GIN 

Opt for the multiple award-winning Henley Gin Classic Dry for a contemporary twist on a London Dry. This signature sipping gin elegantly builds on the familiar juniper foundation as citrusy flavours blossom from orange peel, lime leaves and lemongrass. Warmth flickers from the bold Szechuan peppercorns before mellowing with the deep, rich notes of cardamom and vanilla-like tonka beans to create a smooth, refined balance. The Classic Dry also won Best London Dry Gin in England at the World Gin Awards, enjoy simply with ice and tonic this World Gin Day. RRP: £40 (70 cl, 42% ABV).

BEST NEW SPICED GIN

The Henley Gin Oriental Spiced is a complex blend of rich spices inspired by the Silk Road, combining long pepper and cubeb with fiery ginger and a hint of lemon zest. Enjoy with ice and tonic for the perfect serve or for something different, add vermouth rosso and Campari for a Spiced Negroni. RRP £40 (70 cl, 42% ABV).

MAKE YOUR OWN GIN AT THE NEW DISTILLERY OF THE YEAR

Or for a real celebration of gin, join the Henley Gin Experience, the Henley Distillery's brand new, fully immersive Gin School. Gin enthusiasts are invited to come along to learn about the history of gin, to taste several of the gins made at The Henley Distillery, and to observe the working distillery in action. As the finale, visitors will have the opportunity to create a bottle of their very own bespoke gin under the guidance of award-winning Master Distiller, Jacob Wilson.  They will use their own mini copper still and tailor the gin to their own palate, choosing from a library of over 100 botanicals, with plenty of G&T's offered along the way. The idyllic setting is a series of restored 18th century barns in Binfield Heath, just outside Henley on Thames. Price: The Henley Gin Experience costs £100 per person.

The Henley Distillery is one of the newest and most exciting distilleries in the UK. Based from a restored threshing barn just outside Henley-on-Thames, the Distillery was established in the summer of 2021 by Jacob Wilson, who is one of the youngest Master Distillers in the country. Despite his young age, 28, Wilson's CV is impressive, with experience at Masons Yorkshire Gin and Spirit of Masham as Head Distiller, and as Master Distiller at Hensol Castle Distillery. Now as one of only a handful of distilleries in the UK owned and run by a Master Distiller, Wilson is showcasing leading edge, contemporary spirit innovation rooted firmly in traditional, artisan methods with his small-batch, single-shot sipping gins. Furthermore, each bottle of Henley Gin is hand-filled, hand-labelled, hand-numbered and sealed with pride.
