Terlingham Vineyard Launches Vintage-Led Gin

Terlingham Vineyard

Kent-based Terlingham Vineyard, a family-run coastal vineyard, has diversified its product offering with the launch of Terlingham Bacchus Dry Gin, an innovative, small-batch spirit made with English wine produced from its naturally farmed land.

Ideally placed to satisfy consumer demand for ethical, and sustainable spirits, each batch of Terlingham Bacchus Dry Gin is limited edition, produced with seasonal wines from grapes grown just once per year with zero artificial chemicals.  No two batches are the same, with the year of production placed on each bottle neck, encouraging repeat custom for retailers as the consumer trend to seek out exclusive, high-quality spirits continues.

Terlingham Bacchus Dry Gin is created by first distilling the vineyard's award-winning Bacchus Wine – which is produced using grapes grown from the same chalk seam as the Champagne region - into an 'eau de vie'.  This unique ingredient is then combined with gin crafted using locally foraged botanicals from Terlingham's home in Folkestone before more wine is added to produce the final liquid.

Already making its mark on the award trail, Terlingham Bacchus Dry Gin has recently claimed a Gold medal at The Spirits Business Spring Tasting Competition 2022 and a Silver medal at the 2022 IWSC.  Presented in a 100% post-consumer recycled glass bottle,

Terlingham Bacchus Dry Gin (40% ABV) has an RRP of £36.50 for a 70cl bottle.

Jackie Wilks, Co-founder, Terlingham Vineyard said: “After over a decade perfecting our wine-making skills, which are rooted in a sustainable and ethical approach to production,

we're delighted to be launching our first gin which has an unrivalled vibrant, natural taste and limited-edition batch production.

“By combining both our widely applauded Bacchus Wine with foraged nettle and coriander from our neighbouring community garden, alongside other fresh botanicals, we've taken great care to ensure that our flagship gin reflects not only reflects Terlingham Vineyard, but also Folkestone, our home.

“Given the unyielding consumer appetite for premium, unique spirits that are sustainably produced, we're confident that our first-of-its kind gin, made without compromise will appeal to both the on and off-trade.”

Terlingham Vineyard is a natural, family-run coastal vineyard in Kent with a passion for the environment, producing award-winning English wines and gins.

Ran by three sisters, Jackie, Caroline, and Ashleigh, alongside mum, Lorna and Dad, Graham, the family brims with natural farming expertise, wine and spirits knowledge and genuine enthusiasm for producing high quality products.

Located on the Kent North Downs, the vineyard is on a south-facing slope overlooking Folkestone and the English Channel and has a negative carbon footprint of -11.91 tonnes per year.

The vineyard employs natural farming methods which means no artificial chemicals, pesticides, herbicides or insecticides are used, vine cuttings are ploughed back into the earth and a seaweed mix provides the vines with nutrition.  Its coastal position allows the vineyard to benefit not only from a sunny position, but also a sea breeze which blows any potential mildew away. The chalk soil is the same chalk seam which runs from Dover to the Champagne region, providing excellent drainage, giving the wines a clean minerality.

An award-winning business, amongst its many accolades Terlingham Vineyard's 2020 Manor Rose claimed a Bronze award and its 2019 Sparkling White Silver claimed a Silver award at the IEWA 2021. Its flagship gin, Terlingham Bacchus Dry Gin claimed a Gold medal at The Spirits Business Spring Tasting Competition 2022 and a Silver medal at the 2022 IWSC.

Terlingham Vineyard has partnered with Folkestone-based Locavore Growing Project to source its gin botanicals wherever possible.

The vineyard also offers overnight accommodation at its boutique Rooms at the Winery B&B, as well as weekly wine tasting events.
