Edwards 1902 – The King of Potato Vodka,
A superior experience from Roots to Sip and Soil to Spirit
Edwards 1902, a multi award-winning premium English potato vodka – named after the renowned King Edward potato – is royal by nature and regal in taste. The ultra-pure vodka is English through and through, born from the grounds of Lincolnshire and made from the finest King Edward potatoes.
The founders began their journey eight years ago with a vision to embody a message of Soil to Spirit. They believe that locally produced spirits from natural, raw ingredients could transcend the popular craft market and conquer the premium spirits industry. Proving that quality local produce, could create a premium single-estate potato vodka.
Edwards 1902 is the result of a meeting of minds and of passions. One of the co-founders, Richard Arundel, a third generation potato grower across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire - knew that King Edward would be an ideal choice to create a perfectly smooth English vodka. With a heritage that dates back to 1902, grown during the coronation of King Edward VII and named to commemorate the occasion, the King Edward potato is one of the oldest surviving potato varieties in Europe. The variety has become a source of immense pride in its home county and with its royal story, rich qualities and close ties with the founders expertise, it was the perfect choice for a base ingredient.
Distilled at the Lincolnshire based Elsham Wold Distillery, Head Distiller Matthew Hamilton created the distinctively creamy, smooth and unique spirit which Edwards has become renowned for. Mindful of minimising waste and championing sustainability, Edwards ensures all the wonky and unwanted potatoes are used in the process. The distillery also utilises solar panels to offset the carbon footprint of the production, with all waste material being used locally to produce green energy or to fertilise the land. This hands-on, sustainable approach to the spirit has been an important part of the journey and ethos of the spirit.
Emma Hamilton, one of the co-founders, comments “We're thrilled to be fulfilling a dream of ours, to champion British spirit production. We truly believe we have created a superior spirit and look forward to expanding the Edwards 1902 world”.
Following the success of Edwards 1902, Elsham Wold Distillery is delighted to have recently launched a bespoke single-origin cold brew coffee liqueur, providing the perfect ingredient for espresso martini lovers - when partnered with the award-winning vodka - or for those who prefer the tipple on the rocks. Continuing the brands commitment to supporting local, the distillery's new product uses coffee sourced from neighbouring Lincoln & York coffee roasters and has been expertly crafted to perfectly complement the smooth and refined taste of Edwards 1902.
