Burpee Europe

We are all in need of a little bit of calm and tranquility these days, and for those lucky enough to have a garden or even a little outdoor space such as a balcony, sowing seeds and watching them grow can be one step closer to finding inner peace.

Research has shown that growing your own veg, fruit or flowers can contribute to mental wellbeing and just the act of nurturing plants can bring a much-needed calmness to our lives and still our thoughts.

Now is this time to enjoy the process of planning what you want to grow and the tips below may help you choose which varieties you want to fill your growing space with to achieve soothing happiness this growing season.

Step One - Choose Tranquil Colours
Combining whites, purples, and blues with grasses that move gently in the breeze will allow some zen into your garden.  But this need not only be contained to varieties of blooms, but also veggies too! The brand new Aubergine 'Violet Knight (also sold as 'Purple Knight') will contrast beautifully with flowers such as Verbascum 'Snowy Spires', to bring these calming hues together for a soothing effect

Step Two - Breathe In & Relax!
All senses can be utilised for a truly tranquil environment, including that of smell. Aromas of lavender and herbs such as Rosemary and Thyme will allow the memories of past holidays to fill your mind and help you relax.  Plus, these can be added to your dishes of soups and stews which will bring comfort to your tummy too!

Step Three - Sow Plants For Pollinators
We all know that bees and other pollinators need all the help they can get, so it makes sense to sow plants that will attract them.  Flowers such as Sunflowers, Verbascum, Echinacea, and Lavender are soothing to look at and are also on the RHS Plant For Pollinators list.

Step Four - Grow Your Own For Healthy Mind & Body
Growing your own plant-based food is not only good for the soul but good for the planet too. With all the colourful options of veg now available, your garden and your kitchen will bring happiness to you and your family.  Homegrown vegetables and fruit are packed full of nutrients, as the sooner they are picked, the more vitamins they contain....fresh is most definitely best!

Burpee Europe do not sell direct to the consumer, but their seeds are sold via top UK seed companies. Details of these on request from rabbitattackpr@gmail.com or 07895184395
