I Brought My Own Ice is a new, trade-only, show hitting the Scottish drinks scene this year. The event is the brainchild of few like-minded, premium drinks companies all operating in Scotland.
Linking industry veterans and experiences that have never been combined before, I Brought My Own Ice will present engaging and up-to-date cross brand seminars and full portfolio, cocktail and spirit category experiences to benefit the Scottish hospitality scene.
The initiative will run for four dates across Scotland including Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Dundee. The show is kicking off on Monday 28 February at The Voodoo Rooms in Edinburgh.
Angus Russell, Business Development Manager, Scotland for Speciality Brands says: “We spotted a gap in the market for a show that would bring the Scottish trade together after two challenging years. We have an opportunity to present professionals with a set of experiences and brands that share innovation, history, and provenance. This is a unique initiative, and we are all looking forward to sharing our knowledge and showcasing exciting drinks to the movers and shakers of Scotland”.
The Edinburgh event at The Voodoo Rooms (11am – 5.30pm) will include a “martini stories” seminar ran by Declan McGurk, commercial director of Boatyard gin who previously led the Savoy team, Jake Burger from Portobello road gin and Ross Bryant, former bar owner and Martini Guru from No3 gin. Three martinis, each curated to the speakers chosen specifications, will be created by Jon Lister, Head of Drinks at Speciality Brands.
Arbikie will host a sustainability seminar in collaboration with Couer Sauvage a local Scottish foraging company on how to make best use of often overlooked and underused ingredients. Also, on the itinerary Small Beer brew co and ‘You and I’ are conducting a seminar on the future of low and no abv serves. ‘You and I’ specialising in Kombucha and Botanical teas will be showcasing highball serves with Nikka Japanese whisky. Porters gin and Denmark’s Empirical are also working together to bring a seminar on the importance of novel distillation techniques.
The day event will be followed by a bar takeover hosted by both Specialty Brands and Mangrove brands (7.30 pm – 1.00 am) with cocktails, low ABV and no serves, boilermakers with small beer and a range of whiski(e)s and rums pairings.
