Tuesday 11 January 2022 - BOXPARK is entering the New Year with a bang as it announces a handful of new street food and restaurant openings in January across its London venues, giving foodies a fresh choice of plates as they step into 2022.

Island Poké

Location: BOXPARK Wembley, Unit 19

Voted the best poké in London, Island Poké was born and bred in Soho in 2016, serving fresh flavours from the Pacific with its healthy poké bowls. The popular poké concept has just launched its 16th site at BOXPARK Wembley this January, just in time for everyone to get their post-Christmas healthy street food fix!

The menu boasts a range of colourful, protein-packed Hawaiin dishes. Grab a bowl of Fresh Pacific Flavours with options such as Classic Ahi Tuna to the Steak Chimichurri or even the vegan Miso Aubergine. Island Poké only uses sustainable and high-quality ingredients that deliver on both flavour and feel-good factor so you can glow from inside out.

Founder James Porter first got a taste for poké after spending his childhood summers between the beaches of California and the tropical islands of Hawaii. Noticing London's lunch scene was lacking in fresh, healthy options packing both flavour and quality ingredients, James spotted a poké-sized gap in the market, quit his job at an art gallery and started selling bowls of his tropical island paradise at a street food market. Island Poké helped to pioneer the poke bowl takeover in the capital as it became a huge food trend.

Peninsula

Location(s): BOXPARK Wembley, Unit 24 & Shoreditch, Unit 52

A brand new Southeast Asian street food concept, Peninsula has just opened its debut site at BOXPARK Wembley and is expecting to launch another outlet in the Shoreditch venue.

Born out of the love and inspiration of the bustling hawker scene of Malaysia and Singapore, Peninsula offers an authentic representation of rich straits cuisine incorporating Malay, Chinese, Indian Nyonya and Srilankan street food. On the menu are signature dishes such as the Flaky Roti Canai, Sensational Nasi Lemak, Flaming Satays, Dim Sum Heaven, Banana leaf Experience, Hawker style Crispy rolls, Sumptuous Beef Rendang, and Classy Teh Tarik.  Foodie favourites include the Roti Canai and the Nasi Lemak and Satay.

The founders behind Peninsula are Chef Jackson and Chef Roshan; both are renowned chefs with 25 years' experience in food concepts, production line and creation of recipes. They have worked in 5 star hotels and fine dining restaurants in Malaysia, Singapore, Srilanka and the UK. Their journey started in their Victoria Central Kitchen where they invented unique recipes with fresh ingredients and a special blend of spices to serve traditional mouth-watering street food dishes.

Cod's Hake

Location: BOXPARK Croydon, Unit 17

Known as 'For Cod's Hake', this fish & chip shop comes with an Aussie twist on the classic British treat. Open now at BOXPARK Croydon, Cod's Hake has an unique menu that merges British chip shop classics along with seafood boxes full of Eastern Asian flavours and Aussie Pies.

Cod's Hake only uses fresh local produce to create a contemporary take on your local chippy. The menu has traditional fish and chips, pies, dogs & rolls, butties and a range of mouth-watering seafood boxes with Monkfish Scampi, Korean Fried Calamari, Crab Croquettes, XO King Prawns and a meat-option with Battered Sausage Nuggets.

Biju Bubble Tea

Location: BOXPARK Shoreditch, Unit 27

Bubble tea fans in East London can cheer as Biju Bubble Tea is set to open an outlet at BOXPARK Shoreditch this month. Whether it's a scoop of fresh brown sugar tapioca, freshly-brewed tea, or fruit boba, Biju is the place to go for your bubble tea fix.

Biju Bubble Tea specialises in individually-brewed tea, offering organic Matcha from Kagoshima, Japan, fresh organic milk and vegan-friendly ingredients. From its Taro Milk drinks to its Roasted Oolong Milk Tea, all Biju beverages are prepared with organic milk and freshly-brewed tea.

Waffle Boy

Location: BOXPARK Croydon, Unit 7

The American-style waffle house Waffle Boy is coming to BOXPARK Croydon this month, offering a selection of sweet and savoury options including its signature 'Bubbledog' - set to be a favourite amongst waffle lovers. The Bubbledog is a fresh-pressed bubble waffle filled with hot dog chipolata sausages and other savoury assortments and toppings.

If you want a savoury snack, the menu features four 'Waffle Dogs' including the 'Beef Dog', the 'Chicken Dog', the 'Vegan Dog' and the 'Bannoffle Dog'. Alongside this is a choice of Chick 'n' Waffles such as Classic Fried Chicken 'n' Waffles, Korean Chicken 'n' Waffles, and Honey Chicken 'n' Waffles. Alternatively for a sweet dessert, Waffle Boy boasts a wide range of classic and innovative combinations such as 'Caramel Apple Crumble', 'The Cinnabomb' and 'The Lemoncella'.
