Today Taster announces its arrival in Manchester, the company's first major city launch as it expands outside of London.
Taster is the delivery-only digital restaurant group founded in 2017 by former Deliveroo executive Anton Soulier. Taster owns a portfolio of digital restaurant brands, available through delivery platforms such as Deliveroo and Uber Eats, which are licensed and operated out of partner kitchens.
From today, people based in North East Manchester will be able to order two of Taster's street food inspired brands, Out Fry (Korean fried chicken) and A Burgers (dirty vegan burgers) from Deliveroo and Uber Eats. As part of its licensee model, Taster has partnered with a restaurant in the Moston area for the initial launch and plans to open further digital restaurants in central Manchester before Christmas.
Anton Soulier, Founder and CEO of Taster, said: “At Taster we're redefining what it means to be a restaurant group in the 21st century with the rise of digital-only food brands. We're excited to be bringing our innovative model to Manchester, where we've had many positive conversations with ambitious local restaurateur-entrepreneurs looking to maximise the use of their kitchens and accelerate their incomes.”
Taster is the first digital food brand concept to scale using a licensed partner model. There are thousands of kitchens across the UK with under-utilised kitchen space – from larger hospitality kitchens to independent operators. Partners can sign up to licence one or more Taster brands, for a fixed commission. In under three weeks Taster brands can launch from an existing kitchen with no additional overheads needed.
Soulier added: “In hospitality margins are tight but all our partners need to focus on is cooking - we take care of everything else. Taster provides exciting food brands, established suppliers and our unique tech suite which covers everything from supply chain, operations and reporting.”
The delivery-only market is predicted to grow to $1 trillion by 2030 and the growth of digital restaurant brands looks set to continue. Taster is on a mission to be the largest digital restaurant group in the world and currently has 120 digital restaurants in 26 cities across the UK, France, Spain and Belgium.
