Falmouth, April 22nd, 2021 – The inexorable rise of online retail does not necessarily have to come at the cost of bustling, lively high streets, argues one of Cornwall's fastest growing ecommerce businesses, Letter Box Hamper.

Letter Box Hamper is taking on traditional hamper companies with a modern gift hamper service, offering sleek little hampers which are the perfect size for one or two people, arriving as a surprise through the post with letterbox delivery. Each one is beautifully hand wrapped in parcel paper with twine and ink stamps.

Behind the brand is creator and managing director Jonathan Winfield, who says that the corona virus pandemic meant that the business had to rapidly scale up to meet demand for online food and drink gifts. The service is now being used by thousands of customers every day for birthday, thank you or congratulations gifts, as well as by corporate clients for staff rewards and resolving customer service issues.

“We urgently need space to expand from our small studio, but our employees don't want to be in a remote and drab industrial estate, they want to be able to walk to work and they want to be at the heart of our vibrant, colourful, bustling high street in Falmouth”. (Jonathan Winfield)

Letter Box Hamper is now actively looking to relocate its business premises to the high street, both because that's where staff would like to be and because it will allow the business to start selling offline too.

“We would have never been able to start our business with a traditional bricks and mortar shop, the costs would have been too high. Now that we are established with strong sales across a number of online channels, including, ironically, Not on the High Street, we are in a much stronger position to expand to a physical shop.” (Jonathan Winfield)

The company expects that 80-90% of sales will continue to be online, but a physical store will provide opportunities to meet customers in person for in-store sales, as well as boosting the high street by bringing in customers, staff and suppliers to support other local businesses such as cafes, gyms, pubs and other shops.

Letter Box Hampers start at £29.95 with free standard delivery in the UK and delivery to Europe for £9.95 and Worldwide for £12.95. Available at www.letterboxhamper.com
