Regent Street, London, 12 April 2021: Two refreshing low abv Shandies will make their London on-trade debut at the renowned Langham Hotel on April 12th. The new Wigmore Summer Garden, tucked away in the hotel's old courtyard, is opening to the public on April 12th and Bar Manager Anna Sebastian has made sure there is an offering for those wanting a lower alcohol option, without compromising on taste.

The Langham, renowned for its culinary offering via Michel Roux Jnr, and delicious beers and enticing cocktail menus, has made the move to accompany its existing offering with Shandy Shack's Elderflower Lager Top and IPA Shandy, coming in at 2.5% and 2.8% respectively.

The tactile Shandy Shack stubby cans, in bright summery blue and green colourways, will make for an instagrammars dream amidst the climbing vines, fresh greenery, flowers, foliage and pergola in what the Wigmore's team are dubbing the 'Ultimate City Garden'.

Ed Stapleton, Co-Founder of Shandy Shack says,

“We couldn't think of a better place to debut our shandies to discerning drinkers in London. The beautiful outside space is the exact type of British summertime space where our cans are best enjoyed. The Ultimate City Garden deserves the newest and most refreshing drinks out there. We're absolutely ready to restore the secret obsession of Shandy to UK drinkers, it's time to shout about Shandy!”

Anna Sebastian says,

“We wanted to make sure our customers had a variety of options when choosing to drink at our establishment, ranging from stronger abv ales and lagers, to creative cocktails, right down to seltzers and lower abv drinks. I'm a huge fan of the lower abv movement and the taste of Shandy Shack is quintessentially summer, with a retro vibe but brought smack bang into the present with the craft beer qualities of the IPA, and the Elderflower option for those wanting refreshment and aroma.”

Shandy Shack has pivoted its business model since the pandemic hit, switching from a pop-up concept at festivals and events to focusing on DTC and the on and off trade. Sales shot up almost 900% between the first two quarters of 2020, leading to a trial on the Taste of the Future Bay at Sainsbury's.

Food will be available by Michel Roux Jnr including a Masala Spiced Scotch Egg with Dahl Relish (£6.25).

About Shandy Shack

Shandy Shack was founded in 2018 by three active, outgoing friends who wanted a lower alcohol option that didn't compromise on taste. An initial tour of the UK in a pop-up shack proved there was an appetite for this re-imagined retro classic and the team then went on to brew their own shandies. The pandemic has meant Ed, Tom and Fred, (the latter two of whom have worked as NHS doctors, with Fred returning to A&E recently to help with coronavirus patients) have had to pivot their business from events and festivals to DTC and on-trade with the Wigmore Summer Garden, Langham, being their first account onboard for a #summerofshandy. Sainsbury's recently trialled the brand on its Taste of the Future Bay, and the team also secured a six figure investment to expand across the on and off trade.
