There is an initial range of ten plant-based twists on traditional cuisine from around the world ranging from a meat free, wholesome, Italian inspired Aubergine Al Forno to a delicious version of the nation's favourite dish, Tofu Tikka Masala!
Co-Founder of Root Kitchen, Rishma Remtulla comments “I was diagnosed with ME in 2019 and whilst looking at natural ways to control the condition all the research I did overwhelmingly pointed to adopting a plant-based diet. I've worked in Product Development for my family prepared meal business for over 14 years and saw an opportunity to create a range of products that make it accessible for as many people as possible to have something healthy, delicious and plant based in their freezer for when they are short on time or feeling too lazy to cook.”
The plant based market in the UK is one of the fastest growing globally, with 1 in 3 consumers actively looking to reduce their meat consumption in 2020 with 16% of ready meals in the UK being plant-based, rising from just 3% in 2018.*
Fellow Co-Founder, David Beaver, adds “Whilst we will initially be launching as a direct to consumer brand we have the infrastructure to make these meals on a large scale with our chefs cooking from scratch in small batches, using fresh ingredients as you would at home and see Root Kitchen meals as a branded alternative to supermarket own label at a price point that is accessible to everyone.”
Root Kitchen ready meals are available to order on the company's website www.rootkitchen.uk and online supermarkets The Vegan Kind and Frozenly.
Offering an environmentally friendly and convenient solution, all meals are packaged in recyclable packaging and shipped using a carbon neutral courier.

A passion for food and experience working for the family ready meal manufacturing business along with Rishma looking for foods that would help after she was diagnosed with ME led to Rishma trialing a plant based diet.
