Signature Brew

SIBA award winning brewery Signature Brew (www.signaturebrew.co.uk), and Great Taste Producer awarded coffee roastery, Perky Blenders (www.perkyblenders.com) have both gained cult status nationally, Signature Brew with their band collaborations and lockdown saviour, the Pub in a Box, and Perky Blenders with their world class brews and coffee subscriptions that have kept specialty coffee flowing at home.  The neighbouring teams have collaborated to create Rise & Shine, a box set of coffee beer, ground specialty coffee and a glass to enjoy them both from (£19.99 via www.signaturebrew.co.uk/riseandshine). The ultimate beer and coffee experience, it has been crafted by specialists sharing their knowledge to create an exclusive tasting set.

The result of the collaboration between the longstanding East London neighbours, and friends, is a unique Perky Blenders coffee created with input from Signature Brew's brewers and a one-of-a-kind beer brewed using the coffee beans themselves, with help from Perky Blenders' expert roasters. And what better way to enjoy them than in a custom, dual-purpose glass, ideal for both coffee and beer?

In the set you'll find Rise, roasted and ground Ethiopian coffee, grown by Tariku Mengesha at his farm located in the famous Yirgacheffe region. The natural process used to dry the cherries gives the coffee a creamy texture while displaying fresh berries and tropical fruit flavours in the cup.

Alongside the specially made glass, you'll find Shine Coffee Pale Ale, a 4.4% ABV golden pale ale, brewed by Signature Brew and their friends at Perky Blenders. Mosaic & Citra hops combine with the floral notes of the roast beans to create a uniquely refreshing coffee beer.

The limited edition set will launch to the Signature Brew website and Walthamstow Brewer's Bar (currently set up for take away beer, wine and snacks) as well as from Perky Blenders Waltham Forest café and kiosks (all open for takeaway coffee, Unholy bagels and gifts) at the start of Lockdown 2.0 and will make a welcome pick-me-up, a thoughtful present to send to friends or even a romantic gesture to gift to the object of your affections for Valentine's Day '21.

Perky Blenders co-Founder Adam Cozens says, “The team at our roastery headed down the road to Signature Brew's Walthamstow brewery and put their heads together to select beans suitable for both the perfect cup of coffee and a refreshing beer.”

Signature Brew co-Founder Sam McGregor adds, “Our brew team worked closely with our neighbours Perky Blenders to create a mouth-watering coffee-infused beer with a light finish – and we couldn't be happier with the results. We hope you enjoy the fruits of our collaboration as much as we enjoyed creating them.”

It's time to Rise & Shine.

NOTES TO EDITORS

Signature Brew

Signature Brew is on a mission: to revolutionise the quality of beer at live music events. Launched in 2011, Signature is the world's number one brewery for band collaboration beers, having brewed with IDLES, Mogwai, Alt-J, Slaves, Mastodon, Frank Turner, Rodney P, Enter Shikari, Sports Team, MC Dynamite and many more.

Led by founders Sam McGregor and Tom Bott, the Signature brewery team is made up of musicians and music fans alike and – with an unwavering commitment to quality – Signature Brew has channelled the spirit and energy of live music into a brewery that stands for craftsmanshipartistry and passion. Brewed in Walthamstow, enjoyed by beer lovers and music superfans globally, their beers are of unrivalled quality, and they were crowned SIBA's highly prestigious Brewery Business of the Year 2018.

2020's Covid 19 crisis has seen Signature Brew get creative to keep the beer flowing in people's homes, creating the Pub in a Box, hand delivered in London by musicians who've had their tours cancelled (paid London Living Wage) and delivered via courier nationally.

Perky Blenders

Perky Blenders like to think of themselves as one big family. That's because family is in the very foundations of the business: formed back in 2015 by brothers Tom and Adam Cozens, along with Adam's wife, Victoria. Even back then, operating as a humble little coffee cart outside St James' Street station (in East London), they had all the same aims as they do now: to be responsible, friendly and accessible to all

Perky Blenders have since stretched their latte-fuelled legs beyond that converted three-wheeled Piaggio Ape but they're still the same coffee up-and-comers waxing lyrical about single origin beans to the good people of Waltham Forest. A few years on, Perky Blenders now have four shops within the borough, and they supply their coffee to over 50 stores – including Whole Foods, The Conran Shop, Fenwick, the award-winning Eat17 Spar shops and Big Chill

Perky Blenders have now opened their second roastery, with a state-of-the-art 20kg Petrocini Specialty Roaster that they're pretty proud of, and it doesn't hurt that there's plenty more space to swing cats/coffee sacks. When 'all this' is over, they'd love local coffee lovers to drop by for a visit.
