Perky Blenders (www.perkyblenders.com) are a family business, roasting Great Taste Award winning specialty coffee in their Leytonstone roastery and serving up daily brews in their coffee shops across East London. Christmas 2020 sees the small, highly caffeinated team, launch their much-anticipated yearly Christmas blend, featuring a beautifully illustrated pouch, for home delivery via the website, in-store throughout their cafés and across Eat17 Spar shops around the country (£7.50, per 250g bag).
Freshly roasted in East London, the Christmas blend is comprised of Kenyan washed Mahiga beans with pulped natural Brazilian Fazenda Samambai beans. You'll be greeted with a veritable selection box of flavours: candied fruit, orange, caramel, redcurrant, hazelnut and milk chocolate. Head of Coffee Francois Knopes says, “Kenyan coffee has big body and brings forward fruity flavours. Brazil is the sweet base note with caramel, chocolate and nut flavours”.
Illustrated by fellow East Londoners, Tom & Jess Jones-Berney, a brother and sister design duo also known as Tomartacus, the highly giftable packs depict an inviting snowy scene at Perky Blenders' Project 660 Leyton Café. Co Founder Victoria Cozens says, “we were keen to feature one of our shops, in particular 660, as the community has really pulled around us to keep us going over a challenging time for indie coffee shops, so it's a bit of a nod of thanks to them and a gesture of solidarity to all small businesses keeping Christmas 2020 festive.”
Go a step further and gift a, letterbox friendly, regular delivery of Perky Blenders to your coffee loving pals, reminding them of just how generous you are on a monthly basis. Sign them up to a super simple, speedy and sustainably sourced subscription to the three, six or twelve month Coffee Club (or opt for the brand new, six-weekly club). Choose from a selection of four brilliant beans, which you can grind for seven different brew methods or leave as whole beans.
For friends and relatives who dream about seeing their name in lights, Perky Blenders can't promise 'above the door at the Apollo' BUT they can emblazon their name on a bag of top-quality coffee – that's the next best thing, right? Inside, you'll find 250g of Perky Blenders' signature Forest Blend, AKA the best brew in the business. You've got 20 characters (incl. spaces) to play with on the label, so feel free to get personal with their name, your name or whatever memorable phrase tickles your fancy.
Add additional accessories like Perky Blenders branded KeepCups & Tote Bags; Coffee Grinders, Filters & Scales; Aeropress, Chemex, Moka Pot, French Press & Coffee Sets, even FREE coffee sacks for all your reducing, reusing and recycling needs.
But what about your Christmas conscience? Perky Blenders is committed to trying their level best to be as sustainable as they possibly can be – and to helping their customers make sustainable choices of their own, to ensure that as little as possible ends up in landfill. All Perky Blenders coffee beans are sourced sustainably, from trusted suppliers, prioritising smallholders and independent farmers, and always ensuring farms and plantations provide their staff with a fair wage and a good quality of living. All of the elements in Perky Blenders coffee bags – the zipper, the plastic inside, the valve – are oxi-biodegradable. However, where possible, zero packaging is always the best alternative. If you live near Perky Blenders' Project 660 cafe, they provide two dispensers (one for Forest Blend and one for Decaf), just bring along a container, fill it up and pay by the gram. Each time you fill up, you'll get a free coffee for your efforts.
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas from the Perky Blenders family, and here's hoping (and praying) for a wonderful 2021!!

Perky Blenders Biography
Perky Blenders like to think of themselves as one big family. That's because family is in the very foundations of the business: formed back in 2015 by brothers Tom and Adam Cozens, along with Adam's wife, Victoria. Even back then, operating as a humble little coffee cart outside St James' Street station (in East London), they had all the same aims as they do now: to be responsible, friendly and accessible to all.
Perky Blenders have since stretched their latte-fuelled legs beyond that converted three-wheeled Piaggio Ape but they're still the same coffee up-and-comers waxing lyrical about single origin beans to the good people of Waltham Forest. A few years on, Perky Blenders now have four shops within the borough, and they supply their coffee to over 50 stores – including Whole Foods, The Conran Shop, Fenwick, the award-winning Eat17 Spar shops and Big Chill.
Perky Blenders have now opened their second roastery, with a state-of-the-art 20kg Petrocini Specialty Roaster that they're pretty proud of, and it doesn't hurt that there's plenty more space to swing cats/coffee sacks. When 'all this' is over, they'd love local coffee lovers to drop by for a visit.
Perky Blenders have also been selected as a hero of this year's annual Small Business 100, a grass roots, non-commercial campaign designed to celebrate small business success and to encourage shoppers to shop small businesses in their communities. Brian Woodhead, Director of Customer Service at Transport for London, says, “It's great that Perky Blenders has been recognised by Small Business Saturday as part of the Small Business 100. They opened their first outlet at Leytonstone Tube station and have been keeping the local community and commuters full of beans ever since. Around 86 per cent of our tenants are small and medium businesses and form an integral part of our fantastic city's vibrant make-up. We will continue to support them as they play a key role in ensuring its economic recovery.”
