Specialist wine supplier to the UK hospitality industry, Hallgarten & Novum Wines, has developed an exciting initiative to follow-on from the government's hugely successful 'Eat Out to Help Out' scheme. Together with its producer partners, the award-winning supplier will provide 100,000 glasses of wine free of charge to help operators drive footfall in September and incentivise guests to make table reservations.
This significant investment, with a retail value in excess of £700,000, will be offered exclusively to customers in the UK's restaurants, pubs and bars. The wine, which equates to 24,000 standard 75cl bottles or 80 full 225 Litre French Oak wine barrels, is being offered to businesses on a first-come, first-served basis through the Hallgarten website.
The initiative has been very well received by operators in the sector since its launch to the trade on 18th August.
Andrew Overstone, Operations Director at Dakota Hotel Group commented:
“Confidence is building in the hospitality sector and we are delighted to see guests returning to us. The 100,000 glasses initiative from Hallgarten Wines will go a long way to help develop that confidence and give something back to our guests as a thank you for staying loyal.”
Graham Suttle, co-founder of Kained Holdings commented:
“Hallgarten Wines are a fantastic partner to ourselves in the hospitality sector and have been hugely supportive throughout the last few difficult months. The company's 100,000 glasses initiative is a fantastic way to help restaurants bolster their wines sales and entice customers through the door as we approach the festive period."
Andrew Bewes, Managing Director at Hallgarten Wines commented: “We are all acutely aware of the impact that lockdown has had on the hospitality industry and, in addition to the practical help we have been able to offer our customers over the past months, we were keen to find a way of helping further. There have been significant initiatives during the last few weeks to help the industry get back on its feet, but these overlooked wine, which plays an important role in the whole meal experience and often makes up a large proportion of restaurant bills. The 'Eat Out to Help Out' scheme has provided a great boost to the sector in August, so our plans have focused in on helping customers to drive footfall in September.
We discussed a concept with our partner suppliers, and they were delighted to support this initiative despite many seeing their businesses suffer significantly during the pandemic. Whilst not a panacea to the challenges facing the industry, we hope that this initiative will make a difference and, in some small way, help to revitalise wine sales in restaurants, hotels and pubs.”
The scheme and its funding is finite, and applications from customers must be received by Friday 28th
August. All details of the promotion can be found on the Hallgarten website: https://www.hnwines.co.uk/news-and-events/100k-glasses-2020. Eligibility for hospitality businesses is subject to terms and conditions.
