Queens of Mayfair

New venue Queens of Mayfair, situated on its namesake – Queen Street, is delighted to announce it has a small batch serving of what will be the most expensive coffee in the UK, with only 15 servings available – at a cost of £50 per filter brew.

Queens will be home to a batch of Ethiopian “Cup of Excellence” Queens Coffee. Queens roaster Difference Coffee was one of only two businesses in the UK to be invited to purchase at auction and 8 in the world and of those, Queens will be exclusively serving the rare beans which would retail for up to £2,000 per kilogram. This particular lot of beans won first place within the Cup of Excellence Competition and was purchased at auction in June this year and roasted in London in September.

The coffee is graded a 94/95 and has undergone rigorous tasting and testing. The coffee is expertly weighed to the gram, ground by hand and then brewed in a v60 filter, then enjoyed in a crystal wine glass. The flavour develops and intensifies as the coffee cools and is light, fruity and floral in flavour. Co owner of Queens of Mayfair, Victoria Sheppard states “we pride ourselves on the finest produce throughout our menu at Queens of Mayfair, to have such a rare and highly sought after coffee to offer true connoisseur highlights the standards we are aiming for”.

Truly “Fair Trade” the Cup of Excellence program is designed to reward farmers for coffee excellence, thus they receive the full auction price. In the case of this coffee the farmer received 180 x the commodity price.

Owner of Difference Coffee, Queens roasters, Amir Gehl comments “We are extremely excited to continue our collaboration with Queens of Mayfair in terms of pushing the boundaries of what is possible in terms of quality and by showcasing one of the worlds best certified coffees. Not only is it an incredible and rare commodity it is also making a difference to the farmers in Ethiopia”.

Guests will be served by Queens Head Barista Sabrina Pastano, who is an authorised Speciality Coffee Association trainer. One serving is a large portion for one person or can be enjoyed by two guests. The coffee will be currently be the most expensive coffee listed in London to taste and is available whilst stocks last. Queens continue to serve their high grade Panama Geisha v60 filter also 94/95 grade and Brazilian Daterra Collection as their house serve (88 points – highest grade takeaway coffee in London)
