It was just a normal day for Archie Chisnall from St Helens, Merseyside. He was settling down one afternoon to prepare his lunch – consisting of Aldi's Champion Steak Cut Chips (£1.05, 1.5kg) but little did he know he was in for a big surprise!

As he readied his chips for the oven, he noticed one of them looked extremely spud-tacular in length. Measuring a whopping 7.1 inches, Archie is now the proud world record holder for the world's biggest chip!

Archie commented: “As I put them on the tray, this huge chip came out. I thought, wow, that's big. I was in awe and thought that I'd measure it. From its length, I thought it must be a record. I checked and saw the story from May about one that was a tad shorter than mine, so it was!

A spokesperson at Aldi commented: "We are truly honoured to have played our part in helping Archie to set such a prestigious world record. A great example of the spud-tacular quality and value available at Aldi!”.

Want to find out if you're as lucky? Why not head down to Aldi and pick up a pack for yourself? If you keep your eyes 'peeled', you might be the next record holder!
