Mamuśka! Polish Kitchen and Bar, based at Leake Street Arches in Waterloo and directly facing St Thomas' Hospital from across the Westminster Bridge roundabout, has just launched a Pay-It-Forward scheme that allows people to treat NHS staff to a free meal when the restaurant re-opens again.
To donate a meal, people simply need to visit the Mamuśka! website, click 'order now' in the Deliveries section then select an amount from between £5 and £100. Mamuśka! will contribute an additional 25 pence for every pound donated and all funds will then go into a dedicated NHS account. Once the restaurant re-opens again (in line with Government guidelines), NHS staff who show their ID cards will be able to enjoy free meals using the credit in the account. Any credit not redeemed by the end of 2021 will be donated to the Guys & St Thomas's Hospital fund.
Located just a short walk from St Thomas' Hospital on Westminster Bridge Road, Mamuśka! looks forward to treating local hospital staff as well as other NHS workers from across London with hearty homecooked meals, either during their breaks or after work as part of their much-deserved celebrations with family, friends and colleagues.
With an extensive menu of food a Polish mother would be proud to serve, diners will be able to enjoy traditional favourites like Schabowy (tenderised, pan fried pork loin), Beef Cheeks in rosemary red wine sauce and the hard-topronounce but easy-to-eat Placki Ziemniaczane (golden brown potato pancakes), and of course a wide range of Pierogi dumplings (a Polish delicacy)! Customers with a sweet tooth will enjoy the restaurant's twist on Kremówka cream cake and those looking for liquid refreshment will be satiated by their vast drinks menu, including vodka slushies and some of the finest Polish craft beers and vodkas this side of Kraków.
Since they are still currently open for deliveries through the COVID-19 crisis, Mamuśka! is also offering a 50% discount to all NHS staff who order food and drink via their online delivery service. Dishes are delivered safely and swiftly via Deliveroo, Just Eat and also via the in-house delivery team directly employed by Mamuśka!
Whilst Leake Street Arches is currently closed, the #LeakeStreetLIVE public events programme will be brought back to life (in virtual form) later this month. More information to follow.

About Mamuśka! Polish Kitchen and Bar
Mamuśka! Polish Kitchen and Bar creates food a Polish mother would be proud to serve. This massive, industrial venue born of steel, brick and concrete offers a different vibe to its previous home in Elephant and Castle, but the menu remains as reassuringly authentic and value-packed, as ever. About Leake Street Arches
Eat, drink, paint and play at Leake Street Arches; a celebration of urban art, dining and entertainment located underneath Waterloo Station. Eight former railway arches have been brought back to life to provide a selection of independent restaurants, bars and entertainment spaces that are united by their approach to celebrate the creativity of urban culture. These include; Aures London, Banh Bao Brothers, Draughts, Mamuśka! Polish Kitchen and Bar, and 26 Leake Street. The redevelopment of the 23,000 sq ft space is being led by LCR and complements the wider regeneration taking place in Lambeth. Adjoining London's largest legal graffiti wall on Leake Street (which has made its name as a democratic cultural venue for street art) Leake Street Arches offers an exciting street-culture led destination to the 24 million people visiting the South Bank each year. #LeakeStreetLIVE is the free public events programme that brings an exciting range of events throughout the year. It currently centres around a Thursday night graffiti workshop accompanied by live music. For more information, see www.leakestreetarches.london.
