HYKE Gin

West Sussex, 28 January 2019. Foxhole Spirits, specialists in creating premium spirits from otherwise unused materials, and its award winning HYKE Gin will feature on Channel 4's Jamie and Jimmy's Friday Night Feast  this Friday at 8pm.

Presenters Jamie Oliver and Jimmy Doherty went behind the scenes to see why and how Foxhole Spirits uses a sustainably sourced grape spirit to make HYKE Gin and learnt the golden rules of home cocktail making.

On Friday's show viewers will see the pair don hair nets to pack punnets of grapes and understand the surplus challenge, macerate botanicals in a traditional copper still and create their own delicious Gin based drinks for their special guest, Strictly Come Dancing presenter Claudia Winkleman.

James Oag-Cooper, co-founder and MD of Foxhole Spirits comments: “We had a really fun day filming with Jamie and Jimmy at Richard Hochfeld Ltd, our grape supplier, and at Silent Pool where we distil HYKE Gin.  The boys share our 'resource not waste' mindset so were interested in our approach towards a more sustainable future, without compromise on quality or taste.”

HYKE Gin, which launched on Global Recycling Day 2019, is the second release from Foxhole Spirits. Co-created with Richard Hochfeld Ltd, one of Tesco's biggest fruit importers, using fresh table grapes surplus to the requirements of the supermarket supply chain, its distinctive character comes from the unique blend of botanicals inspired by the grapes' African and South American origins, including coriander, myrrh and rooibos.

Don't miss Foxhole Spirits on 'Jamie and Jimmy's Friday Night Feast', 31st January, Channel 4 at 8pm.

Notes to editors:

  • HYKE Gin IWSC tasting note: “A delightful gin with superb complexity; a nose of zesty citrus peel and coriander leads to onto flavours of vanilla, resinous juniper and cedar wood, and a long complex finish”
  • Foxhole Gin IWSC tasting note: “Bright and complex floral notes with a little aromatic fruitiness and a splash of coriander”
  • *Approx. 713 tonnes of fresh table grapes per year are not suitable for fresh consumption from a total volume of 500,000 tonnes; which equates to approx. 1.4 million punnets of grapes. The base spirit created from surplus grapes helps to reduce food waste in supply chain.
