Bonne Maman

This year, why not start indulging in pancakes earlier by celebrating France's big day for crêpes, La Chandeleur (Candlemas) with Bonne Maman? Held on the 2nd February each year, some say this religious festival dates back to the 5th Century when the then Pope began holding candlelit processions on that day and offering crêpes to the poor pilgrims in Rome. Another theory is that crêpes are eaten in the evening on the 2nd to mark the beginning of the end of winter - definitely something to celebrate!

Whatever the exact origins, La Chandeleur seems well timed to practise making perfect crêpes to deliver wild pancakes to delight family and friends on Shrove Tuesday itself.

Wild Pancakes…

Whichever day you choose, try this new Wild Blueberry & Ice Cream Crêpes recipe from Bonne Maman for a pancake party with all family. For a more grown up pudding, add a splash of cassis to the Wild Blueberry conserve before spreading on the crêpes.
